I keep telling people.

The only gender ratios that actually have any significance to the Pokemon's design are 100% male, 100% female, 75% female/25% male, and 75% male/25% female.

87.5% male/12.5% female is just used to make certain Pokemon, such as starters, gift Pokemon, and fossil Pokemon harder to breed.
