Why haven't we seen fossil Pokemon based off giant prehistoric bugs? They could take the "giant bugs" theme really far and make a dragonfly the size of an airplane or something.

Mega yan Mega
>>28643500
that's based on an underwater creature though. I mean the bugs that are still around today, just smaller.
Yanmega is implied to be a prehistoric bug since it evolves through Ancient Power.
A giant fossil scorpion would be cool. A true scorpion unlike Drapion.

Bug type Pokemon are already huge. How is a Pokémon based off a mosquito appreciably different from a one based off a Jurassic Mosquitosaurus Rex when they'll both be about the same size and allowance?
>>28643566
exactly! I feel like it gives Gamefreak a lot of design room, they can take bugs they would generally make small (ariados, beedrill, etc.) and make them absolutely massive.
>>28643600
they're "huge" by normal standards, but by Pokemon standard you could argue that fully-evolved bug Pokemon are average-sized at best. I'm talking things like 20 foot long Scolipedes, 2 story tall Galvantulas, just absolutely massive bugs. It takes the general upsizing that occurs in Pokemon and applies it to already huge animals.

Yanmega, basically. It evolves by learning AncientPower, reflecting this.
Yanmega and Mamoswine can basically be considered pseudo-fossil Pokemon. Tangrowth too given its resemblance to a shaggy caveman.

Why bother? Bugs in the pokemon world are huge
Genesect too

The AncientPower evos will forever be the coolest evos.
Too bad we'll probably never get any more.

I dunno, Tangrowth is kinda iffy
