nah, set up with flareon and get 4 volcanions on the bench. Probably need more energies / recycles, but if I have 4 fire energies in my hand it's an extra 120 damage from flareon on top of whatever energies I add after the first couple turns it takes to set up.

There is really no proper way around Garbodor with Greninja deck (as long as I know?), I think I will fucking slap 2 Rattatas from Evolutions expansion when it comes out, since it has this ability:

Ability: Facetious Fang
When you play this Pokemon from your hand onto your Bench, you may discard all Pokemon Tool cards attached to your opponent’s Active Pokemon.

At least then I can switch Garbodor in with Lysandre and remove the float stone and 2 hit ko it without it escaping.

And I guess I can just hope for tool removal card from the upcoming expansions..

Look into pic related. Steam Up discards the energy, then Volcanion Jr. will send it to your benched Flareon EXs and Volcanion EXs.

You really shouldn't be running the Talonflames, and I feel like you'd be good to -1 Jolteon and -2 Flareon honestly. As far as Pokemon, here's what I personally run in my pure Fire type Volcanion/Steam Up deck:

>x1 Entei (Combat Blaze)
>x2 Shaymin EX

That anon was right, look into Max Elixir, especially if you want to make a more aggressive deck.

I've actually been trading some EXs for generations boosters just to hold onto and have a couple of the reg volcanions, just didn't even really look at that first attack.

Hopefully I'll be able to trade for those trainer cards since I don't feel like spending any more money on physical stuff. (the super premium generations box is well worth the money for the book and extras lol)

If you're talking about the DRX Ninjask/Shedinja pair, then that deck was considered an alright budget/intro deck for new players back when it came out. It's severely underpowered today.

If you mean RS Ninjask/Shedinja, Ninjask is outclassed by other mill cards like Houndoom and Bunnelby. Shedinja was actually a viable rogue back when RS came out, since that format had Frozen City, Laser, and Muscle Band to help you do the right amount of damage. But even with Mew EX back in Standard right now, it's too slow and doesn't do enough damage to compete in the current format.

As someone who played Mew/Shedinja extensively two formats ago, I can tell you right now that the current iteration isn't good at all.
Magma Base is too slow and doesn't work on your opening Pokemon. Frozen City actually let you control your own damage unconditionally and helped you hit for the right amount.
Rainbow Energy isn't enough by itself. And without Muscle Band + Laser, and with how prominent FFB and Megas are right now, you won't be getting any good knockouts.

I've been trying to force it for the past few days, but it just doesn't work anymore. I even added in Ariados to help out, but it's not enough.

The deck is dead.

Hopeless Scream is currently shit.
Mew EX isn't usable in any deck right now. Even in Expanded it sees almost no play, especially since FC Mew exists.
Ignoring the Garbodor problem, your best bet would be to use it to hit M Mewtwo for weakness in a deck that doesn't use Basics for FC Mew. But Psychic Infinity doesn't apply Weakness and Damage Swap wins that trade, so you'd have to copy your own attacks.

The Lost Zone is a second discard pile like Yugioh's Removed from Play/Banished or MtG's Exiled.

It was a short-lived mechanic released in Gen 4. There were about 20 other cards that interacted with the Lost Zone, some that put your opponent's cards in there, or some that put your own cards in there. I'm new so I pretty much just play theme versus. I use the grass deck and it is pretty fun.

The annoying thing about it is that you are really reliant on stage 2 cards. Tropius can be good if you start with a DCE but you usually need Chesnaught/Shiftry/both to win. The other grass Pokemon aren't that fantastic compared to the stage 1 murder machine Gyarados in the water deck.

We already have Pokemon with similar stats if not better. When Primal Groudon - a Mega with a better energy cost, an identical condition, and two ancient traits to pick from - isn't viable, what makes you think M Mewtwo would be?

Or look at other EXs like Machamp or Golem who don't need to fumble with Spirit Links or evolution, yet can easily do the same damage for fewer energies. Or if you look at non-EX Pokemon like Garchomp or Machamp Break, etc. Mewtwo doesn't do anything special, and its typing isn't the problem.

Most of my theme decks have weirdly just changed name (though I think the cards are the same from a quick glance).

XY Basic Red/Blue/Yellow all have different names.

Mental Might and XY: Basic Green remain unchanged.

If you want to focus on Darkrai, then follow the hivemind and build a Darkrai/Giratina/Garbodor deck - it's really quite good. I've had good results with a Darkrai/Hypno/Malamar deck too, and people forget about it.
