So I'm not convinced that Z-moves are just really powerful attacks. At least SOME of them must have secondary effects, or maybe are pure status moves.
Here's some secondary effects I've been thinking about:
Ghost: leaves opponent cursed
Fairy: leaves opponent attracted
Fighting: drops opponent's defense and special defense one stage
Etc etc
What do you guys think/what secondary effects would you choose
I think if it doesn't OHKO why would I bother.
>>28623849
It's already shown they're not OHKO moves. Pikachu's only did like 50% to Alolan Sandshrew, neutral damage
If they don't have crazy Status Z-Moves or really good secondary effects they'll be a complete waste of an item slot so they better have them
I doubt they will though, because GF would think that would be too broken

Mega rayquaza
>>28623920
Exactly.
>>28623920
>the same guys who thought archeops would be uber-broken without defeatist were responsible for mega fug just one gen later
Rrally makes you think..
>>28623969
Eh, these are the same guys who thought giving Regigigas Slow Start was a good idea.
>>28623969
I guarantee no one at Game Freak gives a shit about Smogon
>>28623824
The only reason z-moves will ever be relevant is because they open up the opportunity for a fifth move.
that way you can run a poke with more potential type coverage without sacrificing a slot.
a few status moves would be nice
>>28623894
Type gems were occasionally used in gen 5 so I don't see why Z-moves wouldn't be used now
>>28624330
They were mostly used for Acrobatics and Unburden.
>>28624330
This. They won't see massive, even moderate use, but they will have a niche like Gems did in Gen V
>>28624009
>made like 5 major changes that only affect the singles metagame during gen 6
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they DO care, at least about singles.
>>28624470
They were also used in specific circumstances to cripple or kill switch ins that would normally be able to come in safely/semi-safely on your attacks. Even then it was used limitedly, but it was at least something.
>>28624470
What's Draco Meteor.
That was one of the most meta defining things in existence along weather in Gen 5.
>>28624327
Don't you need a move of the same type to use an Z-Move? Or would for example Thunder Wave count as the move requirement and activate an Electric Z-Move?
Porygon should get a Z-Move called Virtual Destroyer which makes every Pokémon on the field paralyzed and confused.
>>28623824
they'll function like return, with a power that gets more potent the more happiness/affection your pokemon has toward you, tying in to the new replacement amie
>>28623824
>At least SOME of them must have secondary effects
But OP, some of them actually have secondary effectstrigger the Bond Phenomenon :^)
I hope one of the benefits of Z Moves is being able to use them regardless of type matchups.
That way you could beat Ghost with Normal or Fairy with Dragon with their STAB.
>>28624751
exactly this.
I actually hope that it only works with attacks that actually deal damage, otherwise some shit will be really broken.
>MFW Talonflame with fighting type move to kill all its counters 1shot.
>>28623824
>Ghost: leaves opponent cursed
>Fairy: leaves opponent attracted
>Fighting: drops opponent's defense and special defense one stage
sure not gamebreaking at all.
hahaahahhaha even for a 1time use, this is too broken.
>>28625120
this is retarded.
>I suck competitive so I want to be use anything braindead
>>28623824

>>28623884
Where?
Anyone got a video for this?
>>28627042
Fake because they'll be captureable.
>>28623824
>Ghost: leaves opponent cursed
maybe if this applied shadow tag, otherwise it would be pretty shit
>>28623824
>Ghost: leaves opponent cursed
>>28627045
I'm pretty sure the Z-Crystals or whatever are held items like the Mega Stones that don't get used up.
