As far as the anime goes, whatever the Western audience likes, the Japanese audience hates or is indifferent to, and vice-versa.
That's probably why they'll never make a full series like Origins in Generations; it wouldn't be popular enough in Japan to warrant it, judging by the lukewarm reception Origins got, and the current anime is still doing its job of selling merchandise.

Ratings are what studios use to decide what should get renewed for a second season, and what should be cancelled.
The Ashnime has good enough ratings to keep getting renewed.
Judging by the lukewarm reception to Origins, a series like that would last for one season before getting shitcanned.

The ratings has nothing to do with nips liking BW more you retard. The ratings has been steadily declining literally every season. The only exception is actually XY have better ratings than decolora islands. It's literally the only time it has gone up.
Ratings are falling because people, especially kids are moving away from tv as a medium and instead stream or download it. Which you can't actually rate which makes rating between the pokemon series mean absolute shit.
XY has good rating anyway.
