The reason the Ashnime has stayed alive this long is because it sells merchandise.

What makes the Pokemon Anime version merchandise different to generic Pokemon merchandise? The former and latter would seem basically indistinguishable to me as (Correct me if I'm wrong) the only partly original parts of the anime are Jessie/James, Hunter J and Ash Greninja; EVERYTHING else being some form or another of direct rip from the games.

How can you say it is the anime selling generic pokemon merchandise rather then the base game, cards, manga, etc?
