Imo its because he doesn't really have a defining trait. Chicken-Chan is only popular because of her hat, If you took it away from her I doubt she'd be so loved.

Meh, I can't say I agree with that sentiment. Red/White/Blue is a very traditional color scheme that's been in the games since Gen 4. I have no clue why there was a shift in color design at gen 4 from reds to blues, but hey.

I used to have water shoes kind of like that, where there's a drawstring around the inside neck of the shoe, where you can tighten them and the button to add slack was on a ball like that.
