I'm honestly interested and curious to see where they go with this. I find it hilarious how many people act as if they're being betrayed for no reason at all without even knowing how the series will be.

People don't like that its a completely sudden genre shift. Pokemon has always been essentially an adventure series. Now, its becoming a school series.
Genre shifts don't tend to go over well with existing fanbases.

Furthermore, as an adventure series, Alola's whole concept was perfect for that. But instead of Ash trying to complete the Island Challenge, hes just going to school. And the Trial captains are seemingly just students rather than the Trial Captains.

Well after the VN boom and the death of the Anime first boom of the 90s one can say that nearly all Anime are a commercial to something or to boost the sales of its source material.

The last purely Anime projects in the 22 minutes firmat I saw where dog days, vividread, Madoka, YU YU YU, Shirobako...partially, Luluco or TRIGGER stuff, Gainax making a car comercial with magical girls... In SPACE, comet FAILcifer and regalia for this season.

Some where quite bad like comet lucifer being a complete failure at the direction, or regalia the 3 sacred stars being WAAAAAAY too ambitious for a loli yuri semi incest Anime due to the handrawn mechas and it getting stuck on endless 4 due to the directors missing plot points...

Pokemon being an add isn't a bad thing to say, 95% of the Anime of every season is an add for boosted sales of a toy line or some VN, 3% is good hentai 1% is TRIGGER being TRIGGER and the rest is original stuff.

Novel sale boosting 22 minutes adds are just very successful.

That's not even true in the least. OR/AS opened up with over 1.4 million in its first week on the Japanese market, while YW3 bombed with 600,000-something in its first week.

YW3, after eight weeks on the Japanese market, has sold 1,181,659, according to Media Create... or barely half its predecessor's (YW2) sales in the same amount of time (2,337,131). Even spin-off game Busters (1,406,313) sold better after eight weeks. Series in straight-up in serious decline in Japan.

To be honest the new style is better. Newer liked the old one. I have always hated how fucking angular everything was in it. The new style looks more natural with smoother angles. I like how they do the eyes a lot better, one of my main gripes with the old style was the shitty eyes as well. The facial proportions overall are better, I hated how wide the heads were for example and how eyes took over half of the face.

Sure, the poster doesn't really show off the style the best way so people are turned off by it but I'm sure people will start to appreciate it when they see it animated and better pictures drawn on it.

I wish they would just copy the game style, like the animated trailers do. That would be the best.

There were two distinct camps of fans of the show. There was a lot of overlap, but they could conceivably dump one without losing the other: the people who wanted to see Ash win a League, and the people who wanted to see Ash and Serena together.

They instead chose to dump BOTH, possibly in the hopes of picking up fans from an already existing popula property. Barring the other property making some giant misstep, the "Let's pick up some of their fans" approach to creating a fanbase about as effective as Youtube dislike campaigns.
