I think a mysterious writer or librarian team with Pokemon like Alakazam and Gothitelle could work, at the risk of being to similar to Shauntal. I'm now stuck between psychic and fairy.

Psychic because of their intelligence and they seem like they would enjoy having unlimited books and a quiet space to think and meditate.

Fairy because of how they're based on fairytales and folklore. I think they also would like a quiet setting. I can imagine some of them pulling silly little pranks like rearranging books and such.

I scraped normal just because... well. I don't quite know. To me I guess there aren't a lot of pokemon that are normal type that fit well with a library/book store setting. They seem quite animalistic and loud, I guess.

A fake cave with rolling boulders. Puzzle is based on activating levers which will pop up some stones from the ground to change the direction of the boulder. It's like a rock pachinko, except it's impossible to win unless if you find the levers by defeating trainers. Possibly also curved stones to make the rock do a curve, for more variety instead of just pachinko. Either that or the whole gym is one huge pachinko, and the rock would need to proceed through multiple ones with different levers, stopping before going to the next one because it'd go up a ramp and lose its velocity.

Rock & Roll! This gym is a stage show, complete with screaming fans (who will sometimes stop the players for a battle), roadies (who will stop the players for a battle) and stage effects (that will suddenly flare up as the player gets close, blocking their approach). It starts as a shifting maze of human bodies (similar to the cult area in Earthbound) not all of whom will fight the player, and talking to some of them will open new pathways, or close ones behind you, but ends with the player on the stage in front of a legion of fans, ready to take on the gym leader.

This is an idea i'd love to see happen, but as a rare pokemon area, maybe a cave but not a gym. Like you're walking through and as you walk past a mirror or a crystal you get stopped and your reflection turns into a ditto and attacks you.
