I believe it now, I posted a theory a few days ago that the Chinese leaker only played Pokemon moon and thus didn't see the day formes of the starters.

For example, he said only that rockruff evolves into a werewolf, not mentioning the split formes at all. Since moon version is at night a lot of the time, it's reasonable to assume that's when he evolved his rockruff and never even knew it had it had a daytime form. Since the starters also have a secret, I presume they also have daytime formes.

This would mean the leaked starter evolutions are the night ones since the leaker never mentioned any others. Since your rival has a starter too, I imagine it will evolve into the night version in moon and daytime in sun.

The only thing we have to prove is, strangely, the oddities people are pointing out in the leaked starter evolutions in how they are all "Night" themed.

It's mostly musing from me at this point, but Rockruff's branching form evolutions does lead to some unanswered questions, most particularly the one where it was shown to have some link to the starters. This has been speculated on for MONTHS, with no actual idea on what the link was.

Disregarding the idea that Rockruff's evolutionary forms have nothing to do with the starter's "special secret" is moronic just because "that's not what it is" somehow rolls off the tongue easier when it comes to explaining all this "special secret" bullshit.

The leaked starter evos are all Night versions if the split is real. Fire/Dark litten, simply because evil; Hunter Rowlet3; Poppmaid being extremely feminine, which ties to the symbolism of the Moon.

I believe that, like Rockruff, the day evolutions would be much more traditional, "just geta bigger" if you will. So Litten would be quadrupedal for example. It does fit: more traditional daytime evos, and more outlandish/quirky night time evos.

I believe such a split would be a win/win for everyone, as some people prefer traditional evos, and some like conceptual evos better.
