I was expecting Gen I remakes to come this Gen, but the VC Gen I games having compatibility with S/M pretty much kills that possibility.

I don't think DP remakes will happen either, I think that will be saved for Gen VIII on the NX. I don't see them remaking Gen IV on a hardware already in its final years, and so fast after the Gen III remakes. Doesn't seem profitable enough.
I think we'll get Pokémon Eclipse, Sun/Moon 2 or something along these lines.

The pattern thus far is one set of remakes per hardware cycle. If rumors regarding the NX are true, though, this could be the first generation since Johto to cross a hardware generation gap (if you count crystal's GBC exclusivity). They've started hinting at Sinnoh remakes in a similar vein to gen VI's event Torchic by offering that special Munchlax, so that seems like the safest bet. I'm hype for HD Sinnoh.
