The most "Japanese-y" Pokemon is Meowth.

It's a cat, which is popular in everywhere, but shit, have you seen those fucking Japanese cat magazines? And Shoko-tan, is, well... yeah.

It's based on a traditional Japanese myth of the Maneki Neko. As a kid, I guarantee every single one of you was like "Where's its nose?" "Why are its whiskers like that?" "What's that metal thing on its head?" It's even stylized to be overly Japanese-y.

The Jynx is based after the Yama-uba, snow witches which are described as having long white hair and prominent lips in some cases.

Froslass is generally accepted to be based on the Yukionna instead, which are spirits of women who died during snowstorms in white kimonos that lure mountaineers to their deaths.

Fun fact: the yokai in this picture is depicted eating rice cakes, known in Japanese as "mochi".

The Japanese name for the ability Huge Power is "Muscleman", or "Chikaramochi". Mega Mawile having this ability is a reference to the word "mochi" being a part of the name of the ability.

As an aside, the reason that several rabbit-related Pokemon have the ability (Azumaril, Diggersby lines) is a reference to the Japanese legend of the moon rabbit, where supposedly the shadowy shapes on the moon resemble a rabbit pounding away at making rice cakes, or mochi.

Huge Power is a pretty lame translation of the ability's name but I don't know how it could have been translated to keep the pun.
