To be fair, it does gain that typing when it evolves, so they aren't completely wrong.
It's one of those weird Pokemon that doesn't gain its secondary typing until after evolving, like Shellos.

I thought Gardevoir was pure grass..

I occassionally forget Snubbull and Granbull are Fairy types.

Fun fact: In all six generations, there are only six Pokemon for whom Electric is their secondary typing.

I don't know why, but when I first got into pokemon I thought gen 1 dual typing was much rarer than it actually is. I thought Lapras, Cloyster, Dewgong, Starmie and Tencool/cruel were pure water type. Thought the gastly line was pure ghost. Thought the bulbasaur, bellsprout and oddish line were pure grass type. Thought the geodude line was pure rock type, and the rhyhorn line pure ground type.

Not a Pokemon, but I have to remind myself that Steel types aren't weak to water types.

When I was a kid my brain just thought, "Oh, I'll use water Pokemon, and they should rust."

Haven't been able to de-program that from my brain just yet.

I suffer something similar. I unconciously think that grass types resists fighting type, just because most gen I and gen II grass types have a secondary type that resists fighting.
