Pokémon Sun and Moon have received the ESRB rating, so the games have finished their development.
>>
Who is in such need of immediate ESRB ratings info all the time that they need an app specifically for it?

Parents, some actually give a shit, surprisingly.

Middle-aged housewives with young teenage kids who feel that in order to be of value to society, they must ensure their kids strictly adhere to entirely subjective ratings by a Government agency, which exists purely to collect further money at the expense of gaming companies.

1 tinfoil hat is more /x/ than /pol/
2 that was not tinfoil at all
3 even though /pol/ does have some tinfoil stuff, that's not the message you're making when you're calling someone /pol/, so even if you were right about it being tinfoil, you'd still get shit for it

next time, just go with the classics, "retard" or "asshat" or something like that

it's due to october it finished the devs long ago, aside for debugging. They have to print and deliver over 10 millions cards before the release after all

They have no reason to be shipped that early, China doesn't have a ratings board. However, it may be soon anyway due to the sheer volume of copies that need to be in stock.

And we won't be getting leaks because the 3ds scene is a bunch of lazy fucks rivaling Gamefreak.

I'm pretty sure they just use a general description for all Pokemon games at this point. That description can apply to every Pokemon game, though the moves listed would only apply to Gens 5-7. Except those moves, the whole summary is generic as fuck.
>>
>>28424251
No it implies theyre about ti enter mass production. Its probably done since they started showing it off, the are working with other translation teams for a worl wide release.
>>
>>28424422
The only time my mom ever actually used an ESRB rating to decide not to buy me a game was when she almost bought 8 year old l'il Anon Conkers Bad Fur Day. She was about to buy it when she thought to ask about the rating and heard a horror story about some other mom who bought it for their little shit without looking at the box.
>>
To tell the truth, I never wanted any games that would've been more mature at the time. Even now, I barely have any games that have content inappropriate for children. My parents never had to worry about that. By the time I did do more than that, I could buy games by myself.

They have been called cartridges forever. Its even shortened to carts occasionally. What are you smoking?
>>
>>28424711
Fuck you.

>>28424895
Producing enough carts to satisfy initial demand while building hype for the game with intensified marketing.

Marketing, Continued Beta testing, Producing the millions of carts that couldn't be made until the game was completed.

Welcome to game development, where making the game is not even close to the entire thing.

>>28435162
>>28435207
Not that anon, but Nintendo does always refer to physical copies of DS and 3DS software as game cards. I'm not so autistic as to not realize plenty of people still call them cartridges or carts, but they are indeed officially game cards, anon didn't just make it up.
>>
>>28435286
That's fucking weird and I don't like it therefore I shall forget that's a thing
>>
>>28424422
>which exists purely to collect further money at the expense of gaming companies
Essentially this part of the post. If the ESRB actually was a government agency, it wouldn't be so bad, since it would basically perform this function at cost, or else put a tax on the tag of games at launch. As it stands, however, they are simply a meddling private institution that has managed to strike gold by making others believe that they are an absolutely required force of nature.
>>
>>28435286
They may be called game cards officially, but they are functionally identical to all other types of cartridges- plastic rectangular items containing game data, with metal contacts at the bottom or top, that are plugged, snapped, or clicked into a cartridge-based game console or handheld.

It's like Coca-Cola. Yes, it's officially "Coca-Cola", but nobody bats an eye when you call it coke or soda or pop (except because of regional dialects), because that's what it is.
>>
>>28424445
>Implying the ESRB actually plays the games they rate to completion
>>
>>28435399
True, and that's why I said that plenty of people still call them cartridges. I was just saying game card is the official term for them because the reaction images implied to me that several anons didn't know that and thought that guy pulled the term out of his ass or something.
>>
>>28424422

You don't know shit about the media anon.

Also, ESRB exists because it matches the will of American parents. Overall, it's pretty accurate at determining what the American hivemind sees as appropriate for children or not. Same goes for the MPAA despite public bitching.
>>
>>28433783
This. If you look at the description of the other main games, it's pretty much the same thing. I'm amused by the fact they thought Cubchoo and Skunky were gross enough to mention specifically.
>>
>>28424422
>Here's a free rating guide for you so you can know which games are appropiate for you or your family, and get a good idea of what kind of themes the game is about.
>HURR DURR THE GOVERMENT OPPRESSES ME.
>>
>>28435411
From what I've heard, for a game of any reasonable length they don't even really play it, the developer/publisher provides a video of the average gameplay and any scenes which may be particularly offensive. This stops ESRB from being responsible for not finding parts of the game which might be worse than the rest of it (and part of why Rockstar got in trouble for Hot Coffee, rather than ESRB)
>>
>>28435411
They have spoilers for the final boss in the description for several zelda titles.

>>
>>28435583
They don't play them at all.
>ESRB raters do not actually play the games during the rating process for a variety of reasons.

Also, highly relevant to this thread
>games are typically submitted to ESRB for rating before they have been finalized or fully tested.

Pertinent content that is not playable (i.e., "locked out") but will exist in the game code on the final game disc must also be disclosed.
>>
>>28435479
Except that even publically, MPAA ratings are pure fiction, or at least little more than a marketing tool at this point. Otherwise, they need to change the age ranges because everyone turned into pile of pansies for childrens' movies, and more mature things keep pushing for the other end of the spectrum.

Like I said a Game Card

A cartridge is different technology, usually a board with chips and a battery inside of a plastic casing. A game card uses flash memory.
