I don't think a full reboot, but it might be a good way to justify a MAJOR balance revamp in the latter half of gen 8, which would be completely possible given that they have no compulsion to make games within the same gen compatible for battles anymore if X/Y/ORAS set a precedent.

They could get rid of a lot of the legacy mechanics, like incense for breeding babies, and do BST overhauls aimed at bringing some diversity to VGC. Probably a pipe dream though.

Giratina will definitely have some role in the Sinnoh remakes and will definitely have some involvement with the UB thing in the distortion world.

Nintendo is trying to say that NX is supplemental to their existing home consoles and handhelds. There's no doubt whatsoever that it will completely replace the Wii U, but I can see them continuing to support the 3DS for a short time after the NX releases, just in case it's another failure.

In which case, I can see them banging out another shitty remake about as quickly as they did ORAS. I mean, the NX really barely factors into this. If they wanted, they could probably take any Pokemon game they were working on and just put it on the NX. The resolution boost alone would make it look massively improved, considering the quality of the models, even if it isn't quite "home console" level.
