Wicke frowned down at her clipboard. UB-03 was having problems again. Originally in the same, amorphous shape that most of the UBs preferred, it had taken to mimicking Lusamine. She couldn’t help that feel that the Aether Foundation leader was a little too blinded by the creature. There was already talk of making it the Foundation logo, and moving up the public reveal of the later series of UBs. It just didn’t make sense to Wicke. How could releasing something to the public that still had to kept in what was the equivalent of a high tech jail cell?

She skipped UB-02, the cell was empty and had been for months, and stopped in front of 01. The familiar, jellyfish-like form waved its tentacles in a lazy, undulating motion. Wicke often wondered if this was some form of greeting, or simply a function of the UB keeping itself afloat in the viscous liquid it was contained in. Lusamine had forumulated it herself. Living creatures were able to breathe in it, whether terrestrial or aquatic. They could have made millions from it, but that wasn’t what the leader was interested in. Money was boring to Lusamine, and her curiosity and thirst for the unknown drove her.

Infatuated with the sight of a young girl when it broke out of the foundation one night, it had taken her form, or at least as much as it was capable of, and stubbornly refused to shift. But this… This was interesting. She carefully noted down the time and UB-01’s new behavior, all the time watching it from the corner of her eyes. If she could get proof it was interacting with her and responding to her, now that would be a breakthrough. Setting the clipboard on a table beside her, she place her palm against the viscous jelly again.
