OK BUT WHAT IF
>team skull is just a group of misfits, so they're all pretty weak
>game tries to make them look like the evil team
>aether is the REAL evil team
>every grunt has 4 pokemon all admins have a full team, big Boss is elite 4 level
>SM ends up being the hardest game yet
Hardest game yet probably not but we figured out that Aether is probably the real enemy when they were announced. It's kinda obvious when looking at them. Not to mention they are called Aether in a game with hidden alchemical and astrological lore, there's definitely something going on here. Something more than just a bunch of scientists hanging out
>Everyone assumed Team Skull were the bad guys
>In actuality, they're merely
>Overconfident and prideful
>Tight as a family, Plumeria treats the others like little brothers/sisters
>Rejects (or rejected by society in Alola or considered rapscallions and not trustworthy)
>Misfits and weird as fuck, unsettling and creepy in a sense (Plumeria was practically stalking female MC)
>Somehow just turn out to be nicewhy do I have this sense of deja vu I swear I've seen this somewhere
You know what would actually be cool? If there was an entire hidden arc to unveil Team Aether's evil plans. Like, you can play out the game in a way, beat team skull and cy@, or, maybe for endgame content, unveil Team Aether as the actually evil team

Explain why grunts were trying to take pokemon and sell them for money then
>climax of the game
>mindless fearsome UB controlled by Aether Foundation
>starts attacking the main chara directly, ala BW2 Kyurem
>suddendly distracted by an attack
>it's a bunch of shitmons with their trainers
>their boss speaks, scared af
>"I-if ya want to beat him, you have to pass on y-ya boy's body first"
