Which game do you think makes for the most challenging and/or memorable Nuzlocke runs?

From vanilla games it's probably HGSS, especially with SacredGold hack.

But when it comes to challenging - VoltWhite2/BlazeBlack2 are probably the hardest, though I enjoyed IV gen games more.

All in all, it's up to you if run is memorable.

Why wouldn't I use legendaries? They are usually available post E4 either way so it's only for post game if your team is decimated.

This has taken a turn! I've rebuilt with a lot of cool pokemon and managed to get to Fallarbor without incident.

The route right before Fiery Path had all three Johto starters for some reason, I'm glad I got a Cyndaquil.

Rare candy revive dead pokemon while leveling it up. it leaves them with amount of hp they gained from leveling up.

Though I see it's like some kind of heresy here, so I'll maybe resign from that. After all it's not as good idea as I initially thought.

Ive played BW2, Diamond, XY and ORAS, and lost all of them.
ORAS was a really smooth ride,e ven if it was a blind run. Sometimes I even forgot it was a locke. I only lost one like against dads slaking (Crobat). I played whatever I wanted. Got to the league with Swampert, Gardvoir, Linoone, Illumise, Walrein, and another Crobat. Son against Steven, but only Swampert survived, and May crushed him with megasceptile before credits so I still count it as a defeat.
Then would go Diamond. Wasnt really hard, lost some mons against galaxy team. Got to the league with Gyardados Skuntank, Infernape, Golbat, onle more I cant remember, and Bibarel (HMSlave)
XY was easy in gym fights, but there are so many strong trainers which can catch you off guard. Still did it to the league, but couldnt surpass E4 (Only 2 strong guys survived Victory road, which by the way has 24 damn trainers: Simipour and Miltank).
BW2 was the hardest. Very few routs to catch pokemon. Everything loss is a hard hit. Only got to fourth gym before Zebstrika steamrolled my team (Magnemite, Dewot, Yamask)

After a loss during grinding I faced Gardenia.

Am I glad I have a Beedrill, the fucker went to town on Shiftry and avenged Grimer.

Stanley disappointed me against Tropius, I expected more from him.

Grinny the Grimer and Ludicolo were stuck with Black Sludge and Leech seed shit, and eventhough Grinny had 3 minimizes on him she still died in a shite way. Bertha avenged her with a crit as well.

Tangela, Roserade and Bellossom were dumb enough to use Sunny Day with Chum out, so they weren't hard.

At least I have my favourite Flying-type on my team now, I'm going to grind him up for against Galactic.

I make mine in paint too, it takes some fiddling around and heavy use of the Paste From function, but I think they turn out OK enough for being made in Paint. The key to not making your images warped to to use the resize button, and make sure the keep to scale box is ticked.

Updated while grinding. Lost Trasha the Trubbish to a random crit while trying to level her up. Whoops. On my way to the tower before Skyla - everyone is sub40 right now and that's unacceptable and everyone will die to Skyla if I don't grind.

Hoping for a good catch in the tower, since Chargestone Cave was a fucking bust. If you'll recall, Dumwore the Magmar crit-Fire Punched a goddamn TYNAMO in the first encounter and I have never been so close to breaking my DS in rage.

Finally took out Elesa, although it wasn't easy. I lost my Smoochum almost immediately, literally the first battle I didn't just swap it out on.

Went out to the routes next to the city and killed a Lotad and Lopunny. However I took a brief stint into the Lostlorn Forest and found a Tododile, so I can't be mad. Used him to take on pretty much the entire gym, only switching if he got into the red.

Headed to Victory Road!

Wow the game got hard! Lost TWO FUCKING TWO pokemon to wild Woobuffets in the cave on the way to the ship. FUCK. Whatever though. The ship wasn't that bad, survived a few explosions and everything was fine.

Colress got Timmy though. RIP Timmy the King of Frogs. He solo'd two gyms and was the strongest on the team. His Klingklang setup up on me when I used Dig - only to find out he has an Air Baloon! That's what I get for 4x speed emulators, didn't know that it had one. Giga Impact and GG. Peter came in on the recharge and fucked him up.

I've set Legends to randoms and the legend battle was with ARCEUS. Scrabled worried for a bit but Peter with Fly was able to deal.

Ghestis nearly got a few too. Roxy's critical on the Eelektross saved her and a crit from Seismitoad nearly killed Afton. I was worried about Hydreigon but m v2.53's supersonic+twave+Dragon Rush were in my favor and took him out without getting hurt.

Looking forward to Victory Road and the two or three new pokemon I can catch before the E4.

What should be my new 6th? My template is missing Poliwag (TimmyJr) and Linoone (Trashcat). The Meowth is Adamant and Technician - so that may be worth it. Mantyke is trash because I can't evolve him - Sableye is Stall so he's trash.

Finally finished up with Clay, he was a cake walk.

Lost my chance to get a sneasel at the cold storage, but honestly I never would've used it.

Chocodile has evolved, and once I go grab bulldoze from Clay he'll be even more OP.

Char Char is on his way, but still knowing ember and smokescreen is really limiting him. I don't want to give him any HMs, and I don't really care about any of the TMs I have so far. Charmeleon learns Flame burst soon, so at least there's that.

Still holding on to pricky and bisonburg, but only because I need an HM slave and grass coverage.

It is 649 from the start.
Don't do challenge mode, the normal difficulty is bullshit enough as is.
If you get Sewaddle early on, don't underestimate it's potential. It's very bulky early in the game, and STAB Bug Bite is one of the strongest moves you'll have access to on any Pokémon before the 2nd gym.
The Hoenn gym leaders are around. You can challenge them, if youre feeling suicidal.
EVERY gym leader (except Cheren) carries coverage against their type's weaknesses.

Battling to the death is a lot easier than trophies. I'd say striving to catch Pokémon is against the spirit of Nuzlocke, so is using Legendaries.

What I look for in a Nuzlocke is:

- Difficulty
- Strategy
- Use Mons I would never use

And using Event Pokémon and Gift Pokémon goes against that last rule, because I always use Event Pokémon in all my runs (except Legendaries).

Of course, you can certainly catch it but not use it. Because I'm completing my Pokédex, I catch all Event Pokémon and save them for after I'm done with this run.

so yeah, you may catch that shitmon Regice, but you may not have have a lead Synchronizer (especially since it's a nuzlocke), and even if you don't accidently ko it/dies to struggle/run out of balls, it has much of a chance of of having a shitty nature and IVs as any other Pokemon you'll find in a Nuzlocke. You're actually giving up more, repelling for the legend than simply catching the first pokemon you encounter. What happens if a potential encounter in the Regice area is a Drizzle Politoed?

Regice might be a shit legendary but it is still one, and as such, is way better than most of your average nuzlocke mons even with all the wrong IVs/abilities. I'm doing a very basic Nuzlocke run in X, but I'm also using Wonder Trade with every catch to shake it up somewhat.

Just lost a Ninjask to the flying battle outside Glittering Cave. Got overconfident, took damage from confusion and the Ledian's Silver Wind took off more than it could handle. So close to a win in that match, too.

It is done. The enemy forces have been cleared from our lands. I did not expect to see the Commander of the Rocket forces, Giovanni, ally himself with the Enemy. Thankfully Chief Venusaur had the veteran expertise to take out the heavily armored forces which allowed our Abrams to clear out the rest.

i think the logic is that if characters give you items then you'll like them because they gave you stuff but i think it builds more animosity than anything

also the worst parts of these changes is that they weren't in the originals, your mum gives you the pokegear instantly but in this one you need to go to elms house, then go back to your mom's house to get it, which is such a needlessly tedious slowdown

i haven't played the gen 6 games but the gen 5 games seemed to have a severe problem with this, like you couldn't play for more than 10 minutes at a time without being interrupted, it's absolute 0/10 worldbuilding and it needs to stop

Randomized Fire Red, and my starter was Scyther. My rival, ANIME, chose Pichu.

Jolteon was level 13 when I entered the gym.
The two gym trainers brought him up to level 15.
Falkner brought him up to 17.
All I did was Thundershock everything, no in-battle healing required.

Defeated Brock after a close duel with Wingull vs. Kabuto. Managed to survive an Absorb with 2hp and killed with water gun after an instense Leer/Harden standoff with Scyther.

AS is pretty easy as far as nuzlockes go, especially if you keep the exp share on.
Just watch out for primal kyogre

you have to literally go out of your way and ignore almost everything new to nuzlocke it

and even then many of the new additions were designed to make the game easier and you can't work around them

just give yourself harsher restrictions if you want a challenge

Work your way up through the generations. The best part about Nuzlocke is that every playthrough is different. I don't play any hacks/mods, so just use a random number generator to randomize your started each playthrough, and get cracking.

Small update here. Caught Paras, yet another fucking bug type. At least he brings Grass to the table, though. Maybe a TM will pop up and make him useful.

Wingull also learned Wing Attack, which is huge because he's packing a 29 attack stat right now which is even higher than Scyther. Next update will be in Mt. Moon.
