Theory: Aether made Type: Null, and as a result, Arceus is punishing their blasphemy by sending the UB's to destroy them (and by extension, humanity).
It's all going to come back to zero.
Next year we will get Gen IV remakes, but not before the Universe is re-written by the Sinnoh legendaries at the end of Sun and Moon.
