My headcanon at this point:

>Aether Foundation is evil
>wants to harness the Ultra Beasts(who aren't Pokemon and are from another dimension) power
>sacrifices Pokemon in a similar fashion to getting a Philosopher's Stone to summon Ultra Beasts from another dimension
>Lillie and Gladion are her children
>Lillie befriends UB-01, which takes her form
>Gladion is edgelord who rebels against his "peace-mongering" mother
>Joins her when he learns she's evil
>Gives you one epic final rival battle against him in the end where he's actually evil
