What do you think would be the chances of all three mid-evos looking as different from their final forms as Dewott or Combusken?

Well you're right, but the main thing that I can see making that the case is the possibility of split evos. It's a common rumor, so it's hard to say if it's got any legitimacy behind it whatsoever, but supposing for a second that it is real, then I'd imagine that the second evo's would be relatively neutral, only to dramatically split off in 2 ways on the final evolution.
