Very tough call. Both have teams that are effectively nothing in comparison to Mega Zard X. To compare the pokemon alone would be fruitless in either persuasion since gen 1 would not have the pokemon Alain has, and the main anime treats all pokemon as equal. Their Zards have equal feats, defeating even legends. I have nothing else to differentiate them, so I'm calling double KO. They are equal in strength.

How? It fought against Primals, yes, but was ultimately decimated by them. I will not count that. Fighting a flipton of Megas? Debatable. As I said, the anime treats all pokemon as equal. Megas may be inherently stronger than normal pokemon, yes, but not against each other. He could've fought every Mega in existence save for the legendary ones and I still wouldn't have called it stronger than a Zard that defeated a pokemon that is supposedly stronger than all other mortal pokemon.

Granted, to even stand against the might of the Primals is impressive, even for a Mega that isn't a legend, but that would be elevating it to almost legend-Mega status, and I don't believe that was their intention. We can't know for certain since their only example is not accurate, and is also flipping Mewtwo, who is ridiculous anyway.

I suppose there is some warrant to believing Alain's Zard is stronger than any normal Mega, but it would still be circumstantial evidence at best. Mewtwo is at least as powerful as one that is experienced with the power of a Mega. It'd still be impressive, but the Primals would toss them around like a rag doll. I find that to be a flimsy measure of ability, though, since it would rely on the matter something could eventually surpass the power of the Primals. I believe no mortal can do that, not even Mega Mewtwo. (it'd get the closest of anything, though) Measuring pokemon like this against the Primals is fruitless.
