24 here. I was there during pokemania, became a big fan when gen 2 started, but was too poor to play the games until I emulated the ones from gen 3 years later. I became a Hoennbaby and went crazy with ruby and emerald, but also finished red and crystal. Gen 4 was coming out, impossible to emulate, and I was losing interest.
I started playing gen 4 and 5 recently through emulator and I'm loving it. Probably won't be able to buy gen 6 and 7 games anytime soon, but it feels good to know I'll always have pokemon to go back to.
I don't care about feeling old, I want pokemon to outlive me so more generations can have it as part of their lives.

I pre-ordered Diamond. I had actually sold Ruby/Sapphire/FireRed/LeafGreen for a PSP beforehand so I really regretted it when I saw they had that 2-pack functionality.

Used Infernape, encountered a shiny zubat as the first zubat I ever saw and put it on my team, bought Diamond specifically because Murkrow evolved into a bird that wore a fedora and sparked my (thankfully shortlived) fedora fascination.

First Pokemon game I played to completion was a Japanese copy of Diamond.

I have like 800 hours in Diamond. I could not tell you a single thing that happened in the story or any of the gym leaders. All I did was battle and trade on wifi.

I was a senior in high school and I remember having to get through an AP Calc exam before the dex would get leaked.

That was a fun summer leading up to the release. I genuinely enjoyed the Kricketot and Roserade reveals, but remember thinking most of the sprites looked like garbage and having to wait for Sugimori art to determine my final opinions. That's when I realized designs were getting too complicated for the technology at the time.

Now I'm old. Fuck.

I bought a copy of diamond off my brothers friend for £5 and I've played through it about fifteen times. That's value for money.
