It's a bright and energetic color, it fits the characteristics and "vibe" of Electricity.

It's an extremely common way to depict it in most media. Even if it's not technically accurate, most people accept it.
Also, there's not other types that really are represented by yellow as a color.

Why is Ghost PURPLE?
Just because the only ghosts in first gen where part Poison.
Then Misdreavus for no reason got a similar color, and purple became THE ghost color. When ghosts have always been related to the color white.

And even worse, why is poison purple? Most poisons are colorless. Two types with the same color for no fucking reason. And why not make Dragon another shade of purple uh?

Rotom and Zekrom/Kyurem-B are probably the few Electric Pokemon that are more commonly depicted with non-yellow electricity effects.

Beating a dead horse here, but... the pathetic amount of Pokemon everyone else has, even gym leaders and other "important" fights.

Ghost is purple because its a mystical color, and also the ghost town in Kanto is literally LAVENDER town.

As for poison, Poison is typically depicted in media as purple or green. Green looks more like radioactive waste though (even though the stuff is almost never green in real life) and Poison is usually organic poisons.

To me, Poison should be a dingy, murky green color. I guess I always associate it with shades of green, since it was commonly paired with Grass and Bug in Gen I, even though the plethora of purple colored Poison types in that gen made it clear Gamefreak associated purple and Poison from day one.

I like Dragon as the gold color it is in the TCG. It shows the power the type had prior to Fairy, and it's different enough from the others versus the royal blue/purple it is in the games.

Purple is associated with death is western culture as well. The fact that the color purple is so rare in nature led to it being associated with either royalty (for how expensive it was to have purple robes) or transcendental matters.
