Yancy/Curtis was the only good one because it was optional and actually felt like romance of any sort between Yancy/Curtis' actions and that the player actually has to take initiative.
Shauna and May/Brendan felt to me like typical anime best friends forever shit other than the "date" at Mossdeep Space Center.
An approach like BW2 but with multiple choices would be good for the future.

Honestly I can see degenerates complaining about the lack of same-sex stuff if romances were dumped in again so I'd want to avoid it altogether. Though if it must be done, the sidequest was really nice with Yancy.
