That's pretty much the slowest deck in the meta right now. How you're doing that well, I can't say. Just enjoy it until you run into a M Ray that sets up properly or a M Mewtwo - the better version of M Gard due to its durability.

So far i probably lost one time and won 5-6 times against M Mewtwo. I think you really underestimate the speed of this deck. Yea it's slower than M Ray ( because it's the fastest deck in the game), but one parallel city and he's set back. Garbodor also doesn't affect me.

Yanmega Break would like a word with you.

It CAN have a decent set up if your opponent lets you use Geomancy at least twice coupled with a few elixers, but that's moderately rare by itself already. Moreover, the deck has a bitch of a time recovering when you lose 2-3 energies after something dies as opposed to M Ray just dropping another Shaymin or M Mew's built in durability.

That all being said, once again, enjoy it while it lasts. You seem to be having more luck with that deck than I ever did.

Yeah, it could very well be that my deck wasn't optimized enough. It was the first competitive deck that I made, after all. Since then I've picked up a pair of Shaymins. Either way, it just wasn't fast enough for me and I've already traded off my Xerneas Breaks.

More power to you, bud. I might remake the deck some day if I have the extra boosters laying about.

Archie's Ace in the Hole lets you put any Water-type Pokémon that's in your discard pile onto your bench, even if it would normally need to be evolved. For getting Emopleon in the discard pile, you can use Ultra Ball as well as Sycamore. There are also some cards your opponent can use that make you discard cards from your hand, Delinquent for example. If you're playing Expanded, you can still use Battle Compressor, but that card got rotated out of Standard earlier this week.

As for getting Archie as your sole last card left, I guess planning out what to do that would let you end up in that situation would be good? Don't really have much general advice, since I've never really used it myself.

Just as an example, if you have four cards in your hand (Ultra Ball, Archie, VS Seeker, Empoleon) you can Ultra Ball for something to put on your bench and toss Archie and Empoleon, then VS Seeker to fish Archie back up in your hand, and then you'd be able to play Archie.

Lacks focus. Prune the variance and just stick to one attack card. Like the anon recommend before, Despair is the better option.

Stick to either Brilliant Arrow or Despair Ray, not both at once. I run Despair Ray, as it generally gets going much faster than Brilliant Arrow. I prefer to use use only the Life Leap/Shining Wind variant, as at least the occasional Steel deck isn't an auto-rekt in that case, but I guess that might not matter much outside of that scenario.

I would also consider exchanging a Xerneas for another Shaymin once possible, as Xerneas doesn't serve much of a point once you get going, and Shaymin works just as well as Xerneas if you need to expend something for Despair Ray.

Also you're clearly running the wrong print of Hoopa.

You dont need free retreat with M Ray, you will be one shotting them, if they cant one shot you that means you can kill one more of their pokemon.


Besides, if you add Manaphy and or Magearna you would be adding mons that need float stone in your start.

Besides the 4 Manaphy and 2 Hoopa you would be adding 3Manaphy / Magearna to the mons that need float stone, not only making you dependant of float stone if you start with 9/12 basics, but you could be stalled easily with Lysandre.

Jolteon doesnt need Float Stone when you start with him and cant get Lysandred to stall you.

If they use delinquent you are pretty much fucked since you cant add another Sky Field yourself.

Also having non EX mons makes the deck slower since you can look them up with Hoopa.

M-Ray is about going second, discarding an energy with Ultraball and attaching it with Mega Turbo, adding a DCE and filling the bench with Hoopa to hit for 150-240 turn 1.

Most Metal and Water variants of Rayquaza do not run more than one copy of their respective tech. And the trade off of having to attach a float stone to either of them if necessary is that they have effects that help you throughout the game vs Jolteon which does have free retreat but is just a bench warmer.

M-Ray deck is all about speed.

Using Magearna or Manaphy makes the deck slower.

Besides, you only run one? Then the ammount of basic pokemon would be too low and 1 Parallel City means you lose.

With 3 Jolteons your basic count would be higher and you can recover from 1 parallel city without using super rod and 2 parallel citys if you use super rod.


Its not worth making the deck slower just to have free retreat when you are going to attack will you get killed with Mega Ray.

And magearna is kind of useless since there arent any dangerous effects that would make you lose outside of Mega Scizor and you would end up losing against M Scizor anyways since they run 3 Parallel City.


Not to mention, just like I said before, Jolteons cant be Lysandred to stall you.

If you add more pokemon with retreat costs and only 2 Float stones you pretty much lose after a couple of Lysandre since you can easily stalled to death.
You are free to play whatever you want, but before spouting bullshit go ahed and try all the variants, you will notice that playing Jolteons makes the deck 1000x more faster and consistant.

Because extra Sycamore's and N's that you can't use become dead cards, whether you start out with them clogging your hand or you draw into them. Dead cards can be replaced with better cards that are rarely dead. Otherwise every deck would be maxing both N and Sycamore and no one does. And a deck that already has four Shaymin definitely doesn't need all of them.

Also if you Sycamore away your Sycamore's and you don't see your Seeker for a long time you're fucked all the same.

To be fair Garbodor use is rising and there are times when the risk of a KO outweighs the benefit of drawing until you have six. There's no point in playing a Shaymin-EX if you can't activate its effect or if it's too dangerous to do so.

You should run 1 escape rope to swich scizors without losing energies.

If you want to play Hex you are better off using 2 Hexs, no Garbodor and using SS Cobalion in its place.

It will get killed before it gets charged, and even if it manages to get charged it is still 1HKOd by Rayquaza and Mewtwo and you have to charge 5 more energies to another pokemon.

Mega, Primal, and a few EX cards can do that with ease

230 HP after Belt means Rayquaza needs 8 Pokemon on the bench to OHKO it, and Mewtwo needs 8 energies total (although the latter isn't hard).
180 HP is magic number, 0 problem at all there. First attack is filler.
GX Attack with Belt lets you OHKO the entire format.

Between DCE, Yveltal or Volcanion, and Max Elixer, this isn't hard to set up at all.
