I guess it's both. The pokemon world, including the pokemon. Basically I wanted people to be creative, and also have a place to post their theories and headcanons.

I should've clarified, I apologize. So, people can post what they would have as a career, where they would live, etc. It's also a place to post theories like you just did. So for example, a theory could be the pokedex entry's and how the world looks like in the games is from the kid's perspective (who you play as in the games).

I just don't want this thread to turn into roleplay (there's a kik group for that). I think this has the potential to be a longlasting, frequent general thread.

I'd be a Psychic from Unova who traveled to Sinnoh in search of the Lake Guardians and the seemingly mythical Palkia who I'd believe holds the secret to mastering the psychic arts. Ralts was my starter given to me by my mysterious psychic mentor that disappeared one day without explanation.

What would gym battles be like? Would they follow the formula of the games and be a puzzle filled with trainers, and what would said trainers affiliations with the gym be? I also remember somebody on the board a while ago contemplating that the requirements of earning a badge not strictly being about winning in a battle with the gym leader - things like showing good tactics and putting up a strong fight despite losing and humility afterwards being possible factors.

In terms of my starter and team, I'd choose Mudkip, and my team would be Swampert, Sylveon, Reuniclus, Braviary and Gogoat. Can't really think of a fourth member at the moment.

Starter? There are many pokemon I want, but I have little reason to believe some of them live here, but such things are inconclusive about pokemon anyway and I have another theory as well. I imagine that if pokemon are heavily connected to your profession, then you are given some to work with. This makes it possible to have a great range of pokemon without needing to go far to get them. Such a thing would still be severely limited to the profession, though, and for me, I would still be unable to justify the pokemon I want. Why would anyone deny themselves that? I believe that if there is a pokemon you really like, then you will find one eventually. Is there a pokemon I like that does live here? I dunno, Floatzel maybe? Pika and co could live a lot of places.

Gyms would be something that only like 5% of the population go to, as in real life. Most people in a big city couldn't even tell you where the gym is, but if you live in the area you can get a membership to go train under the leader.

"Levels" are not easily discernible, and most people don't have the heart to see their Pokemon getting ripped up in vicious battle-til-unconsciousness. It's easier if you're using, say, Rocksnake or a ghost or something, but a bloodsoaked Mr Mime makes most people swear off training and decide to live peacefully among Pokemon in their homes. Maybe they watch the pro league on demand on the weekends but they can't bear to see their beloved pet getting bashed to pieces.

Well, what would you like your starter to be? As long as it's not a mythical or legendary you can probably justify a reason for having it.

Starter pokemon don't necessarily have to be your favourite pokemon. They could be something an older sibling or relative gave you or something that ties in with your profession like you said.

That being said, you can set your own limits on what seems reasonable to you. These threads are just to kind of relax, have fun and be creative.

Want to be the champion or a gym leader? Come up with a reasonable backstory or a theory as to why you've become one or how gym's work in the pokeworld since it's not really explain in depth.

Well, for me, there is no point in getting a pokemon unless you like it. I have another theory that pokemon are like an expression of ourselves. If there is something we like to do or things we naturally have an affinity for, then that pokemon will be naturally attracted to you. In a sense, we don't find pokemon, they find us. Nothing that I would want would be that special, save for personal opinion. There's a lot of things that could've been my starter pokemon, and I cannot choose just one of them.

I'd live on a houseboat, probably. Floating around the open oceans of Hoenn I think, or Alola. I'd probably have a Horsea or a Magikarp for a starter. I like poison types too, though, so I'd probably have a skrelp and a koffing too.

For a final team I could see an ocean based thing working out, Gyarados, Kingdra, Milotic, Dragalge, Kabutops, and Omastar. Weezing and Tentacruel for out of pokeball bros.

I'd probably be Clair's Rival, due to being a female Dragon Type specialist, and my team would be Charizard (with Charizardite X), Salamence (with Salamencite), Garchomp (with Garchompite), Dialga (FUCK YOU VALERIE!), Haxorus and Dragalge (FUCK YOU VALERIE!).

I'd be an animator (I am currently an animation student, but I'm taking time out) or a full time trainer. I'd like to think Pokémon being real would be enough to lift my severe depression even a little and allow me to travel with my friends and partners and have a good time. My knowledge of battling would likely give me a sound strategic advantage but my anxiety would probably make me prone to screwing up and throwing battles.

That said, I could travel very far to befriend my favourite Pokémon and make them members of my team. I would volunteer for the program if there was a Pokédex initiative in my local area.

I would most likely travel alone with my Pokémon travelling the world, participating in tournaments for cash prizes, tackling the leagues of the world, meeting people and potentially making friends along the way.

This would probably be my team!

I'd start with Honedge. Favorite pokemon line, evolves into a fucking beast, and it's just a great pokemon in general. Befriending it would be tricky but it'd be worth it.

I'd go for broke and become the Champ, since pokemon battles are a great way of making money. Even if I don't become the best I can keep a steady income just by battling people.

As a place of residence I would probably live in Nacrene city and work in the Nacrene library as the library technician. Maybe I'd even give some tours around the museum if I could.

I think I'd have a small team, probably about 3 or so. Clefable (if i could find the stone, but clefairy is fine), Klefki and Morelull would be perfect. This is assuming that klefki and morelull aren't just defined to the Kalos and Alola region.

Actually, what do you all think about that? Excluding regional adaptions (alolan forms) would most of the pokemon in a region be only available there or not?

I guess Unova would be the closest to where I live (ON, Canada), but I honestly can't wait until we get a canadian based region. Glad to see this thread is still up.

I don't know where I'd live, but I am certain I would choose some out of the way place where I can live peacefully with my pokemon.

I'm absolutely a bug person, and would wind up befriending a Sewaddle found while bug hunting and a Joltik that got stuck in my house.
Since bugs level quickly I'd have a Leavanny and Gavantula, but battling isn't my forte so it'd just be a comfy, mundane life working at a Pokèmart with some adventure to other towns nearby.

My dad loved raising fish, so I'd probably start with a goldeen or magikarp.

Hard to say what I'd do if Pokémon were real, since there would be some huge changes in society that would throw my personality (or lack thereof) out the window because my childhood would have been totally different. If I grew up to be the same bitter outcast I likely would have tried to be a Pokémon scientist bur flunked the classes at university. I would then be living by myself working a minimum wage job with no real opportunity to train or battle my pokemon. My be I'd have a larger than normal tub that I'd let my fish splash around in and talk to, but that'd be it.
