No way, Infernape is based off of the monkey king. Coupled with the fact that he looks like those hot springs monkeys that you would find in areas like Hokkaido where Sinnoh is based off of. Infernape is pretty inspired. People just don't like it because Blaziken came first.

Blaziken literally only has "it's based off a tall chicken" and "lol cockfighting". I think they're all good designs to be honest and people tend to unjustly hate starters for some reason. They're all designed to look cool by default, I don't think I have an actual design issue with any starter.

In terms of sweeping, Blaziken. Speed Boost is the ability to go, making him difficult to revenge kill save for Bravest Bird and Aqua Bunny. He also gets mega so there's that.
Infernape has the best utility tools. Stealth Rock, Taunt, Endeavor, Slack off even makes it great lead or even anti lead. He can use both Swords Dance and Nasty plot, which makes him great when it comes to hitting from both sides.
Emboar is kinda underwhelming. He is the must bulky thou, and can hit like a truck without boosting moves(but relies on reckless). He also has enough coverage moves to break through majority of annoying walls. His support movepool and speed are dissapointing, however.
