as someone who started with RBY, I really don't mind them giving all this love to gen 1, however I also don't feel like it makes sense that other gen Pokemon wouldn't get forms too, and I would like them too. So it's not so much that gen 1 is getting love, it's that other gens aren't.

I have a feeling that:
1. There are Forms for other generations, but they're being saved. I didn't follow Gen 6's release closely but I'd assume they showcased Gen 1 Megas first(probably the starters), yeah?
2. Only Kanto Forms are present here, but the next game can introduce Sinnoh Forms of Johto Pokemon, etc.

Worth noting though is that the announcement said that, "Certain Pokemon are thriving", not Kanto Pokemon only.

I don't know man, I think that being a Pokemon fan and 'hating' any gen instead of accepting pros and cons of every of them is childish regardless of age.

Also, from my point of view, Alolan forms aren't even a form of 'genwunner pandering' simply because being genwunner is mostly about """"purity"""" of Pokemon and not accepting any changes/progress made after 1st or 2nd gen. If I was a 'genwunner', I'd probably think of it as a blasphemy or just not care about it because it's a fucking 7gen and I'm busy with my life and I'm not gonna think about a game I haven't played in a decade.
I think it's actually targeting the younger players, just to introduce them to the oldest mons and make them think 'hey, I'm curious about these mons, how did they look before?'.
