Usually ebay; Amazon doesn't generally have the really old ones but you can get the recently produced ones there. I've also bought some in physical stores (esp. the Nintendo store in NYC because I used to live there), but yeah, mostly ebay.

Pic is the one I just ordered. I've bought from that seller before and their stuff is real and good. They ship fast too so I bet you will see another thread like this in a few days!

The Tomy ones are usually around 2", whereas the Jakks are closer to 4", but there are exceptions of course based on the pokemon itself etc. I don't really discriminate based on brand. Gimme a sec and I'll take a pic of the ones you mentioned... in the meantime here's the Gen 6 image that I forgot again :c

Those scythers are in droves on ebay; pretty sure any of those will be a cinch to find. Swampert and Gogoat are actually currently on sale at Toys R Us (although the gogoat they're selling is pretty big; you can also find a 2" on ebay for 5 bucks)

Shiny figures happen only very rarely, and only for iconic stuff like red gyarados. Same with plush, although I've seen a few more of those.

I know for a fact that the Tomy Electrode is the rarest from Gen 1 - I'll certainly be getting a dupe because real ones go for about $250. I would say that's the rarest one of all because of course the more recent figures are less valuable. The main Tomy Ditto is also crazy rare (I ordered a slightly silly-looking Ditto that was made later and is in a more active pose)

Yeah... I'm thinking that it probably just didn't sell that well. The ones that are really rare from Gen 1 appear to be the ones that aren't super popular pokemon (excluding Ditto maybe) so my assumption is that there just weren't that many produced because they weren't selling well
