Do not use that account after you reset your router. As long as you use a different account until the server reset, everything works normally.

Not sure what you mean by reset your router. I just pressed the reset switch on the back on my modem/router combo and was still locked even with a different nickname

You should wait a good 15-30 seconds before you turn the router back on, for it to take a new IP address.
