This is the only thing that makes sense, there's no hint of central government, there aren't even mayors for most towns.

If anything, it resembles anarcho-capitalism (if ancap could actually function). Buying and selling goods is commonplace and money is obviously important, which wouldn't happen in communist anarchism, yet there's no central regulation. There seem to be no political disputes in the modern pokemon world, the only problems are caused by criminal gangs, and even then they're only violent in terms of pokemon battles.

But that wouldn't explain the free pet healthcare. Maybe pokemon are so important to culture that the local communes or towns don't even think about it.

As for pokemon I still think there was a war before gen 1. A good question the other day spurred me to think about this. "How do people get money in the pokemon world?" My original response was you beat up kids and take it from them. Then I thought it was probably more a wager, mostly because if you ever lose its oly half of your money. If you look around though people have jobs. Pokemart, center, gyms, Sliph co, and safari zone to name a few. Further generations have even more things that provide a capitalist view. I also don't think socialists subscribe to gambling in any form (which I miss from later generations). I also always assumed that the pokecenter was free because the professor paid for it. Kinda like one of those perks of working for him. Much like college, you have access to databases that are blindingly expensive but it's covered in tuition. The professor provides a healthcare account so you can do field work. There is also enough crime to warrant a police force, I don't recall seeing them after gen 1, so it cannot be a utopia.
