If his origins weren't pokemon related, he wouldn't even exist, you douche, because in order for the artist (D.I) to have come up with him, he would have to take inspiration from Popplio, which is pokemon related. Same applies to the other designs as well. There were other inspirations involved, but these designs' very foundation came from the starters' first forms, which is pokemon related. Without those, these designs literally wouldn't exist.
