Vivillon holds on even later on. Literally the only way it can faint is if the opponent wakes up on the second turn of sleep. Even then it has to use a moderately strong physical attack to OHKO you since you more likely than not have a level advantage.

Its only weak to Dark and Ghost, and it should be easily bulky enough to take standard hits for a while.

What set are you running on it?

I'm hardly an online pro, but Cofagrigus is my favourite pokemon so I use it in any tier I can up to OU and it normally pulls its weight just fine. Its not really an offensive presence unless you're running Trick Room, but between Mummy, Will O Wisp, Toxic Spikes and all its other options its got a lot of niches it can fill.

This is how all the early bug Pokemon are deliberately designed. They evolve quickly and become stronger than most of the early unevolved mons, to give the player a taste of what evolution is all about. But once you start catching lategame mons and evolving your other ones, the earlybugs lose their shine and are meant to be boxed.

Bug is the monotype I've had the most success with, and most of it has come from disregarding tanks and setup and running the whole thing as a battering ram

Yanmega, Scizor, Heracross, Mega Pinsir, Durant, Volcarona

The last one's built for bulk with high hp and roost, to buff up and clean up shop after it's teammates have removed sneaky pebbles (Scizor) and cracked holes in anything that could threaten Volcarona, while making their own best efforts to tear through the enemy

I was just think about parasect. He's super cool. But it would take numerous buffs to make him viable

It's probably not good after these buffs but it should have a solid niche on rain teams .
