Okay so in gen 7 were not getting our conventional, basic gyms. I'm okay with this. In fact I'd like to see future generations switch up the basics every now and then. What are some staple pokemon mechanics you guys want to see changed or maybe left out for a gen? Not permanently just for it's respective gen.
Personally I would like to see them use a different type trio for the starters.

>3 dragon starters

If they were all dragon duo types I think that'd be interesting, but it sounds too much like a pokemon fan game.

Out of that list, here are the ones that work both ways:
>Fighting-Rock-Flying
>Steel-Fire-Rock
>Poison-Grass-Ground
>Water-Grass-Fire
>>28104071
>Grass/Dragon
>Water/Dragon
>Fire/Fighting
>>28104026
fairy, steel, fighting.
>Psychic-Poison-Bug
>Poison was only SE against Bug in Gen I
>Steel and Dark types are from Gen II onwards
What is this crap
>>28104026
Poison is not super effective on bugs.
>>28104026
>ghost-ghost-GHOST
>>28104870
I still kekked

it was in gen1. i don't know why the "*defunct" label is missing from that pic, I know it's on the original

The thing is, Ground and Dark are IMMUNE to Electric and Psychic respectively, so it wouldn't work as well. Also:
>Dragon-Dragon-Dragon
>Ghost-Ghost-Ghost
Everyone would complain about this
>>28105582
>Ghost/Ghost/Ghost
>All the starters are dead
Pokemon EDGE

On the one hand I get the mechanical imbalance being an issue in principle, but it's not like anyone gets to their rival in, say Red/Blue, and decides "Charizard, use Flamethrower on his Blastoise!" Having to use your offensive STAB against the rival starter is basically a nonexistent scenario.

Well I didn't mean all of the trios are a good idea, just some of them.

Ice ground rock. Why isn't it on the image?
>Ice no weak to Fighting
>Ice resistant to Water
Let's fix ice type guys...

Or Ice no weak to Rock
