Cynthia is the strongest Champion thus far, but put up against other Champions? The line gets blurred a bit. She decimates a good number of them, but Steven's revamped rematch team in ORAS can cut a close match with her.

One failure with AI in my opinion is that it isn't written to suggest a style by which a Trainer (of any kind) prefers, or switches from strategy to strategy.

How can you define any of the Champions' playstyles? They have preferences, sure -- Steel/Rock types, Dragons, etc. But none have a particular style. I might be wrong, and I'd like to be corrected if so, but matches between Champions in games would only boil down to RNG in the end. They don't typically switch, they don't set up much, there's no actual method to it.

I think one of the more rare instances is Steven switching out after you use earthquake once, anticipating you'll use it again (probability of switching is if you use it on his Aggron) and he'll throw out his Claydol. OFC you could just go with a dark/ghost type attack because the AI is programmed to anticipate EQ at that point.

Again though, this is just one rare instance, and the fact that Steven has a direct counter to EQ or other ground-based moves could just be boiled down to the AI as a whole is meant to do a switch in for those instances.

Cynthia waifufaggotry here sometimes gets unbearable but the only reason I dislike her is her hairclips and Umbreon theme she has got going on with her clothes desu. I think it's a poor design choice, given her role and personality in the games.

That said I'd still rank her among the top 3 champs.

It doesn't change the fact that Steven's Metagross requiring a mega form to compete is pitiful. One Earthquake from her 'Chomp would put it down, mega or not.

If we're going by her Plat rematch/BW2 team Cynthia's team would eat everyone except HGSS Red. Don't want to sound the "ORAS is too easy" horn but Steven's pre-rematch team is absolutely pathetic. Post-rematch is just okay because of the levels. He's still among the strongest champs because of how shit the remaining ones are. DPPt is sadly the only time they tried to put together a proper team for the champ.

Barry's strongest mon is 65, Red's weakest mon is 80. Barry's team is also pretty outdated, it's been nearly a decade. Wally and maybe Cynthia are the only ones who can reasonably wreck Red in-game. I think if she has Pt levels and PWC moveset she'd beat Red's ass, her team is good but her Plat movesets were crap imo

I've recently starting making this a self imposed enforced rule in my playthroughs; along with set battles and no healing items most of the gym leaders actually put up a pretty good fight this way.

The actual battle is garbage, but nothing will top your rival having become the champ before you.
