It seems that Gamefreak has the tendency to make pokemon with moon motifs not fairy type. When was the last time they introduced a fairy that shares visual characteristics of the moon? Exactly.

Honestly wish we had an alternative evolution for Clefairy. Don't get me wrong I like Clefable in game, but design wise it's so off putting. Like its face doesn't fit its body? Like it's a stretched out Clefairy? Idk just bugs me. It's the original moon pokemon so it's bound to get some love this upcoming gen. I really hope its not a mega though.

Ehhhh i was thinking of a dark side of the moon type deal. Maybe water fairy since the moon manipulates the waves? What else could they go for psychic fairy? Maybe give her dark water and drop the fairy but that wouldn't make sense since its THE fairy pokemon

Cresselia wasn't retconned Fairy.

Celebi, which is a literal fairy, did not become Grass/Fairy.

Luxray isn't Electric/Dark, Emboar isn't a quadrapedal Fire/Ground type, Electivire isn't Electric/Fighting, Golduck isn't Water/Psychic, Venomoth isn't Bug/Psychic.

It's almost Gen 7, and as of right now we don't have...

Stufisk was almost Water/Electric and the Frillish line were almost pure-Water, but then GF realised Unova needed more diversity. If only they used that same logic on other mons that needed it.

Also, the lake trio weren't made Psychic/Fairy despite being based on fey creatures yet Mr. Mime the creepy pedo clown was.
