What's up with Flying types and their general depressing lack of STAB options?

None of these Pokémon gets a Flying type move over 80 base power(from their highest attacking stat) that is not two turns or doesn't require special conditions like not holding an item.
Why is this allowed? No other type has a pool this large of Pokémon unable to use a STAB of their type with good effect. Is there any reason why Game Freak decided to screw over so many Flying types?

It seems more like a problem of Flying lacking moves that aren't a variation of "hit with bird parts," "fly into opponent," or "blow wind"
Some of those don't work for the listed Pokemon.

Flying type might not seem like it at first, but it is very powerful offensively, as nothing is immune to it and only has 3 types that resist it (rock, electric, steel), only 2 of which usually come with good defenses.
Among other things, this is the reason why the Genies' only flying type STABs are HM Fly, Sky Drop and HP flying. Imagine Thundurus with air slash, hurricane, and the likes in top of its already good coverage. Brave bird spam is as dangerous as it is for a reason.
The most usable flying type moves are around 60-80 base power because the strongest ones are made to have drawbacks: low accuracy, two turn charge periods, etc.
