>Can I post NSFW fics?
Absolutely! There are no rules against NSFW text links.

>How should I post my fics?
Please, for the convenience of everyone involved, link to a host like Fanfiction.net, Pastebin or Google Docs rather than dumping your fics in text posts. This not only keeps the thread tidy (and keeps you from getting an infraction for spam), but it also provides a more permanent place to store your work.

>Can I add a fic I wrote to the catalog?
Sure! Check the catalog for the submission link. In there, you can find a link to a Google Form - fill out all the necessary information and it will be submitted for review automatically. Technology is incredible!

We're also looking to collect ideas for fanfics as a resource for stumped writers. Feel free to throw an idea out there; someone may choose to use it themselves!

Kind of want to see something with mismagius or misdreavus. There was this idea >>28045010 but I doubt you would want a long story. Maybe something with a trainer raising a misdreavus during his life enjoying playing together facing childhood problems ect. and it developing feelings for him when she evolves and he turns into an adult.

Speaking for myself: I check it every so often, but I haven't done anything from it to date. If I'm not writing an idea of my own, I'm more likely to pull ideas from the thread itself, like that lopunny with a shotgun image spurring the idea for a drabble.

So should I just post my ideas in the thread instead?

I remember seeing an idea for a story about a young kid being raised in a hunted house by ghost pokemons.
Mismagius was the mother
Ducksnoir the father
gengar the cool older brother and froslass the overprotective older sister and misdreavus the childhood friend/crush.
I think sableye was the friend that would try risky things and accidently get the boy in trouble.

>Have you ever given much thought to the science of Pokemon technology? How far advanced do you think they are compared to our world?

While not really doing any fanfic stuff, I have thought of this a lot, especially with the way Pokeballs seem to work, pokemon centers, and PC transfers, etc.

The implications are incredible to say the least.

I sort of toyed around last thread with a concept of a Pokemon story that explores the technology of the pokemon-verse and basically set up a sort of Cyberpunk tale involving a Trainer and their faithful Rotom partner working as freelance corporate spies.

All this with cybernetic augmentations for humans and pokemon and other craziness and... I didn't get any further than thaty.

oddly, Mankind Divided held no influence on this idea.

I know you already made a story about roselia but do you think you could make a story about a newly evolved roserade either being told her ass is big by her trainer. And her being embarrass/angry at her trainer. It could end with some butt play or roserade getting her revenge using her but tif that makes sense and not too stupid of and idea.. Or just the trainer admitting his true feeling to her at the end.

Likely, sort of like in my earlier idea of a crossover between Pokemon and Fallout, I imagined most Pokemon who got dipped in FEV basically became fighting types. (living rock pokemon, construct-like pokemon, and ghosts wouldn't be effected for various reasons)

I can't believe it has not been done before but I would like to request a story about a pure hearted human knight protecting his princess diancie. The reason why he's protecting her could be that the diancie line has been aiding the human city for generation by giving them gems so the humans being grateful would send a knight to protect the current princess from strange attacks or something like that.

Now I wish Super had Special Episodes. The one thing that could've redeemed Super's story overall would be a bit of exposition, best done through Special Episodes as shown by EoS, but we got none.

Maybe I'll have to write some (I don't know about a shippy fucktastic time; I'd probably go more in line with the actual mood and rating of the game) sometime. I'm curious how the Society came to be, and how they managed to get Jirachi of all 'mons into their ranks.
>>
>>28064340
Well the Society is pretty much the first place where a bunch of nerd-ass cartographers came together to start mapping stuff, right? Jirachi's an astronomer, she maps the stars. Even legendaries might want to go to where they fit in best, right?
>>
>>28064463
Nearly every legendary in the canon PMDverse kinda fucks off and does its own thing, right? Jirachi has the power to grant wishes, and in previous titles just kinda hung out immeasurably deep down in some cave waiting for someone ballsy enough to come wake her up.

Maybe Flaaffy (or Mawile) did their research, learned of Jirachi's power, and journeyed into Star Cave with their wish in mind being to help them start the Expedition Society, or something like that? I wonder if they mention at any point in the game when exactly they recruited her, or who the founding members of the Society were. Were I writing it, in this case, I'd want to supplement canon rather than rewrite it, so of course I wouldn't want to step on its toes either in that regard.
>>
>>28064616
Oh yeah, I forgot about the wishes thing. That could also be a good reason for Jirachi to come down and map-nerd with a bunch of other map-nerds. Surely hanging out in a deep cave is more boring than having the biggest telescope in the world and studying celestial bodies.

Tech in the pokemon world goes mostly unexplained in my prose because I think it far exceeds our own in a tremendous way. I haven't gotten around to investigating all the shit you could theoretically have given the existence of things like pokeballs and the PC system, much less those two things themselves - they imply a great deal about the ability to transform matter in that world. Teleportation itself is a massive talking point, with the whole preserved consciousness angle, the concept of preserving the original or reconstructing it flawlessly, etc.

Shit like that has entire discussions and theories you can cook up dedicated to it, and I haven't seen a reason to shoehorn it into anything I'm working on at the moment. It is indeed interesting though.

honestly, funniest thing about Pokeball tech is that there doesn't seem to be any reason you couldn't use it on humans, given the vastly different makeups of pokemon and incredible discrepancies in mass and volume.

I think the biggest factor might be that pokemon stop struggling after a point and anything but a willing human just may keep struggling and breaking out.

>>28066024
This does lead to another question: how do most authors here look at psychic types in general given their apparent ability to interact with humans?

I had kicked around the idea of one trainer and his Delphox being able to talk to eachother through telepathy, but it was NOT a common ability without being a trained psychic oneself (like Sabrina or other gym leaders), their bond was the result of an emotional connection that is the power of friendship.

And a really really dumb accident involving the Delphox suffering from Confusion status and hitting his own trainer with Psychic by accident.
>>
>>28067990
>This does lead to another question: how do most authors here look at psychic types in general given their apparent ability to interact with humans?
For me this depends on the pokemon. In the Gardevoir thing I'll probably write later for big booty anon, she's only capable of sending and receiving emotions.

Latias can read but NOT send emotions (as informed by her dex entries), and telepathy would require the forming of a specific bond. She can influence surface thoughts and perceptions but anyone paying attention would be able to protect themselves from it, even without any psychic talent, just by sorta mentally blocking out the 'noise'.

I'm planning for Latias to be able to receive telepathic signals through those bond-channels by the non-psychic human in question subvocalizing the thoughts they want to send, something I'm shamelessly ripping off of one of my favorite book series.

I'd reason that pokeballs are specifically tagged with something that is unique to the human genome so that they won't work on people. But that would imply that a pokeball can read genetic information near instantly upon brief contact with organic matter. But this is in a world where teleportation exists.

Psychic types are, along with ghosts, my favorite types to write for so far, given the intelligence endemic to the former (typically anyway) and the implications that exist for the latter. I treat telepathy as a pretty common thing, but how effective it is comes down the pokemon and trainer dynamic as well as the species.

For instance, I gave the Ralts line the ability to pick up and learn human language and speak it telepathically, but things like tone don't exist if you aren't emotionally bonded with the pokemon (which is why Viola's voice sounds cold to everyone but Jo, who perceives it as musical), while the Natu line possesses the ability to speak the human tongue and switch between otherwordly booming tones in realspace or headspace. Meanwhile, the Beldum line can pick up the ability to properly understand human speech, but their capacity for speaking it is limited to incredibly short responses.

This just sort of scratches the surface though, as there's also all sorts of extra little peculiarities to communicating with psychic types (like emotion bleed when Viola loses her composure) or vision sharing (which is what d'Artagnan will eventually do.)
>>
>>28068113
>>28068179
oh, I do like how each of you give it a particularity depending on which pokemon it is in questions, not to mention bond strength.

So I'm curious: for each of you, which psychic or ghost pokemon do you feel would be completely incapable of human-levels of communication regardless of bond or even the trainer being psychic themselves?
>>
>>28067990
Psychic types can be made interesting by giving them all sorts of crazy abilities: telepathy that breaks the language barrier, mind reading, future sight, teleportation, mental manipulation, etc. I'm not really a fan of those things being abused because it not only has serious implications for how the world operates, but also makes non-psychics mostly irrelevant. Unless I am using those types of abilities as an central focus of a story, I default to having psychics doing simple telekinesis and headache inducing type attacks/abilities. Likewise, I would write psychic humans as cocky spoon benders, if I ever felt the need to include them. People who write overpowered psychic types are genwunners in denial.
>>
>>28068253
I think that question might be better interpreted as "Which pokemon have minds too alien to effectively communicate with" Now, understanding that you're basically asking me to headcanon up a lot of shit and with the disclaimer this is all hypothetical stuff I'm pulling out of my ass...

I'd say Unowns, Deoxys, and MAYBE some more mundane but strange Psychic-types like Starmie, Solrock and Lunatone might be too alien. Some pokemon like Malamar or Sigilyph may be too mentally hazardous to try and establish communication with, but would theoretically be possible and there's already a sort of foundation in place. Ghosts may fall anywhere from this latter category to totally mundane, like the rest of psychic-types.

I'd go with Unown, maybe Shedinja too. Unown's can communicate, clearly, but do so in a way that doesn't actively attempt to allow humans to better understand them, they simply create either electromagnetic or telepathic frequencies that can be picked up and listened to, maybe interpreted. Their name is aptly chosen.

Meanwhile, with Shedinja, it has a some superstitions that surround it, along with intense mystery - it just appears in a free pokeball you possess, it doesn't breathe or blink or flap its wings, and while logically you can see what it came from (the shell of an evolving nincada) it doesn't make sense as to why it exists in the first place.
>>
>>28068413
Shedninja would be the case of the ghost type that doesn't give a shit about the world around it or how it came to be. He's perfect for defying logic and reasoning

My two cents on Ghosts in particular is that, for the most part, Ghost-types are like spooky Pokemon. Some of them have uncanny moves (Curse should always be written as being extremely unpleasant), but for the most part, they're just kinda shady. Then there's Sheninja, Spiritomb, Hoopa, etc., which are grouped underneath the Ghost type because they do spooky things, but are far more uncanny and do much nastier/more inexplicable things.

>>
>>28068809
Shedinja is a baller. Bonus points if you write him so he doesn't register on cameras, can't be transferred to another pokeball, and pretty much can't be proven to exist beyond the fact that he's right fucking there.

Also, bullying bug ghost is super effective because the only way to hurt him is to hurt his feelings (which is why only super effective attacks work, it's because they scare him).

Excellent thoughts on the subject of psychic pokemon.

>mind reading
The odd way I tend to nerf mind-reading for the most part is that reading someone's mind, especially if you don't know them and they aren't willing tends to produce a lot of vagueness. For example, you know they're going to attack, you might know from where, but you don't know exactly how and such. Or you might be able to tell a guy likes a girl, but you can't pull up the girl's phone number from his head.

Basically, not just with pokemon, but with psychics in general, I tend to treat reading a mind as something actually pretty fucking hard because most people have trouble understanding and reading their own thoughts.

Similarly, mental manipulation is trickier unless you're crazy powerful like Mewtwo. You can suggest certain moods to a person or create a sense of a mood. (Like making them suddenly feel really uneasy around their own mother and press the 'fight or flight' button hard) but you can't actually give them the lucid command "would you kindly take the wrench and put it to the wench?"

Though future sight and teleportation? That shit I completely forgot about.

Though my inner gewunner still holds that "OP psychic" basically is Mewtwo's whole schtick. If I wrote Mewtwo, pretty much nothing really stands a chance short of Mew or some equally broken legendary.

Latias seems to have a couple of not-so-bright ideas this chapter. Considering disguising herself as a person Michael knows and is attached to seems like a pretty bad idea for a first meeting, and using his own ripped up letter to introduce herself is pretty bold, especially considering she can sense how much emotion he'd put into writing on it.

Errors:
>her movements may have seen aggressive
seen -> seemed

>even well-trained sprinters would be able to keep up with
not be able to?

She discarded the idea to turn into the woman Michael knows at the beginning of the chapter. She used a different appearance later, one she's used before. Sorry if that wasn't clear. The previous chapter established that the bought the house. Spark isn't that Ninetales' full name, but is most of it.

I'll look over those errors now, thanks for the heads-up!

Nah, it was clear. I was just commenting on her original idea for an appearance being a little iffy.

Oh, yeah. I wanted to paint her as a little deaf to that sorta stuff. Forgetting that the scrap may have been marked up was an oversight on her part. I don't want to have her get stuff right all the time, and there's going to be some miscommunications at first. Did it come off too much like a pure comedy of errors?

I added a sentence at the end of the relevant paragraph to clarify that anyway, since looking it over I could see how other people might get confused, and also made those alterations you pointed out.

Is there anything that Fighting Types can learn from humans? Such as human fighting styles like judo or karate or even CQC, or anything that can disable an armed opponent? Or is this already written in Fighting Pokemon's genes?

Another partially NSFW question unrelated to the first, for any of you that dabble in lewder topics or not, do you ever get inspiration from any pictures you have seen? I find that they slightly help, since I find it easier to put pictures into words over whatever I could come up with with my imagination. Rotom Garbage Disposal.
>…stepped out of his bedroom wearing his tight pants—an outfit he outgrew in high school. Its fabric strained against him and within seconds he strained against it, and thought to himself a prayer that the stitches would hold just a moment longer. Striding into the kitchen, Rotom smiled and giggled, and descended over his sink, flickering and vanishing as it conducted through the metal. The time had come. He strode forth and mantled the counter-top. Gripping the sprayer and turning the knobs to just short of scaling, he gave Rotom a few quick squirts. Grinding with delight, Rotom activated the garbage disposal. Holding the trigger, he thrust his pelvis forward, forcing through bursting seams his proud pipe cleaner into the sprinkling stream. Shivering with excitement as the warm water and cool air clashed, he dared to put all faith in his sense of balance as he shifted his left hand's grip from his faucet to his faucet. Pressing it downward—against nature's intended angle—to aim for the whirring plumba dentata below, he chuckled and spoke to his tool. "What's it they say, 'Everything but the kitchen sink'? Cowards."

Question for writers: do you ever find yourself just writing gibberish, total nonsense, even in the middle of a document and hoping that you get the swing of something mid-stride and can write your way out of a block?

Occasionally I lose momentum on a scene and just sorta freeze, and I wonder if writing anything at all even if just to erase all of it later would help get out of it
>>
>>28083737
I don't write gibberish, but I will cut to another scene, preferably a side-plot. I believe it's better to jump more than you want to but to stay interesting than it is to have a lump of boring yawns connecting the good parts.

For blocks, I just stop writing for a while. A while may range anywhere between one hour and one year.

I do a combination of both of these things. With my increased productivity these past few months, I've found that sometimes just forcing myself to write shit even when I'm not feeling it is loads better than just dropping it for two years waiting for the perfect words to spring out of the ether. It's much easier to write something half-assed and then edit it to be good later than to spend ages waiting to write everything perfectly the first time.

So, this is a question that's been on my mind, and I'm sure many other minds, for quite some time. There are countless instances of more forceful methods of courting and copulation in the animal kingdom. While this may be the norm for an animal species, rape in humans is obviously indicative of mental illness in the perpetrator, and causes lifelong distress in the victims. So how do we apply this to Pokémon? This essentially returns us to the age old question of how animalistic Pokémon truly are, which at this point is entirely up to headcanon. Since Pokémon-on-human action is the flagship subject of this general, I imagine everyone has turned this over in their heads at some point in their writerly career.

And remember, it's not rape if you like it. Pic wholly relevant

It's okay, there's no electricity available in the bathroom because Rotom forced its trainer to get their power shut off. It insists on powering all of the trainer's appliances personally and gets jealous if they try to use things like the power grid or batteries.
>>
>>28088656
Chances of it happening are probably dependent entirely on species (and for the sake of drama in the case of a work intentionally exploring something about a pokemon that got a bit rapey) so your question has a spectrum of answers.

Aggressive species that are clearly driven more by instinct or have a penchant for being nasty would be first up on the list, and depending on how aggressive they are, how nasty they are and even how strong they are, you could just end up dead.

It then just mellows out from there - more passive species, those capable of understanding empathy better, and the incredibly intelligent start to become (at least in my head) less likely to do something.

Until you hit the incredibly intelligent types anyway, because now you can begin to toss out the idea of "well, what if this Alakazam realizes that it's not only unbelievably intelligent, it is far more intelligent and powerful that its trainer will ever be and because of this it can just have its way with him/her whenever the fuck it wants."

But even that's a really dumbed down response - there's a huge variety of behavior across species, and things like aggressiveness, intelligence and increased capacity to be sympathetic/empathetic only go so far when exceptions and stuff like the above start to get factored in.
>>
>>28088793
>it is far more intelligent and powerful that its trainer will ever be and because of this it can just have its way with him/her whenever the fuck it wants."

I agree with everything but this point; I think that this will come down to personality, just as it does in people. I'd think that the more intelligent the creature is the less sheer power plays a role in any dynamic, more and more overwritten by the personality of the individual (except in cases of a personality that strives for those power plays).

This does remind me of another interesting question though. Do you think pokemon that are far more intelligent than humans (who are themselves more intelligent than the vast majority of pokemon) have some sort of code? Humans have a lot of moral and ethical elements to interacting with animals IRL and pokemon in canon, do you think the higher-order pokemon would have similar codes with regard to people?
>>
>>28088858
Yeah, that applies, prolly shoulda mentioned it but I was scratching the character limit.

Not too sure about codes. I'd imagine yes, if you're that intelligent, there's nothing to particularly stop you from developing one, unless the intelligence you bear is one that cannot produce culture, ethics and morals - a purely pragmatic, entirely antiseptic view of the world, for instance.

That is in itself a sort of code, but to most humans it would be seen as cold neutrality. Alternatively, if you're that intelligent in a traditional sense, as well as emotionally intelligent (to bring the whole concept of multiple intelligences in) then you could very easily create a code, and higher-order pokemon would likely have them, especially if they come to recognize what their interactions with humans has produced in the past, or what their interactions could potentially produce.

This really just scratches the surface though, kinda like my last response did. It really gets about as detailed and in-depth as you're willing to go since you're in the realm of (informed) speculation.

>>
>>28089003
Git gud and you can make fakemons with three megas for all I care. You shouldn't need permission to do shit, it's your story.
>>
>>28088858
Having pokemon more intelligent than humans is a bit of a tricky thing because it's not really just dependent on basic mental ability, but requires enormous time investments in learning and access to information that simply would not be available to them except through humans. If they do find themselves with some sort of ethical code, it's more likely to be based off of information learned from humans, if only because pokemon would not have a significant cultural background to draw ethics from.
>>
>>28089091
Unless they somehow gained intelligence through external influence, I don't see why species with human-equivalent or greater mental capabilities wouldn't develop a culture of sorts. Their culture might be strange or "primitive" by human standards, but not nonexistant.
While such species might not know much/anything about humans, they would probably have some ideas of what should be considered 'normal' when encountering creatures they've never met before.
>>
>>28089207
Alternately: pokemon like Sigilyph, Claydol, or Bronzong could have inherited from older cultures they were associated with, which then developed in ways different than human society once they lost contact with the civilized world?

If it is presented well and in good prose, has enough logic behind it that it is sound to the reader, and makes sense within setting without being too pushy with the concept, I see no reason that it wouldn't work. At some point most come to realize that it is typically not an idea which is flawed, but the way it is dealt with that makes it seem so. I could probably write about homosex aliens that want the planet's reserves of hotdogs if it is well-written enough.

Warning: major autistic faggotry here!

In an old fic idea I had, Mewtwo actually explains this to a trainer as Pokemon generally being 'submissive' towards 'proven humans' (any humans whose managed to catch a pokemon, even if it's like a level 1 Rattata) because Pokemon instinctively see humans as a way to actually channel some of their more latent destructive tendencies. High intelligence pokemon are more acutely aware of this and it boarders a constant existential crisis for them while less intelligent pokemon feel it as a constant nagging in the back of their mind. The end result is why pokemon, creatures of such incredible powers, will listen to humans: because they are so powerful they often don't really know what the hell to do with said power besides fighting eachother in random skirmishes. "Luckily for a majority of pokemon, you humans seem to have a neverending list of things that 'need' to be done and never want to do it yourselves. Keeps us in employment."

Side note: mewtwo himself even acknowledges he's not entirely above this as in such a fic he would have been spotted more than once willing to fight for 'powerful trainers'. More as a summoned monster than being kept in a pokeball or anything though.

partially because it was just an idea for that one scene and I wasn't too sure what else would come from it.

closest might just be a "talking" fic of Mewtwo sharing tea with a somewhat terrified trainer who has no fucking clue what to make of this pokemon they stumbled into.

Dammit, ideas are brewing.

would it be bad to headcanon that in-lore terms, Mewtwo (and a rare few other legendaries) are capable of mega-evolving at will?

>closest might just be a "talking" fic of Mewtwo sharing tea with a somewhat terrified trainer who has no fucking clue what to make of this pokemon they stumbled into.

That's fucking hilarious and now I want to read Mewtwo just bombing random trainers for teatime once a week totally out of the blue and they have no idea what's going on

He just judges the trainer's interests with a quick mental sweep and then starts talking about what he things of that particular subject for the week.

Each time just as the trainer's warming up and actually getting into the swing of the convo, the session ends not much later.

Bonus points of the more quick-witted ones have time to ask him for a mailing address and it's revealed Mewtwo has a P.O. Box full of pen pals and spends his afternoons replying to interesting letters they send him

One idea for his little conversations is that it's actually canon he's worked with every generation of PC trainer. Though usually only got called on take on other legendaries. This includes pretty much everyone from Red to Serena. And the stories he'll tell about them.

"So lemme tell you about the one time Red tried to score and Pikachu kept cockblocking him..."

if most fanfic writers didn't characterize mewtwo as a whiny, narcissistic asshole (probably based on its portrayal in the first movie) I think it would have a lot more interesting relationships with humans in the stories its featured in. as it stands though most times I see mewtwo in a story I expect a paranoid rage-fueled hermit who busts out the cliche "pokemon training is evil" simpleton arguments every time they deem a trainer worth talking talking to while for some reason considering a boring ass life sitting around in a cave as an acceptable alternative.

that being said the idea of mewtwo casually befriending or at the very least chatting with has been done before, not specifically as a tea party or the like but certainly with some similar themes. these two stories come to mind:

Once more, even if he obviously could have heard it from her thoughts, but seemed to wait until she said it out loud. “My name’s… It’s Selene.” After a beat where she was sure her thoughts were probably loud enough to be heard by non-psychics she asked aloud: “What- I mean… Who are you?”

The strange Pokemon turned his eyes to her.

I mean I'd use italics if they were available on stuff like pastebin, but in general I wanted to do something to kind of stress that psychics like mewtwo don't physically talk.

Actually I'd almost want to have Mewtwo talk in all caps like Death in Discworld but formatting for that isn't in the cards either.
>>
>>28100848
all caps is an option, but that implies yelling (kinda like the PMD legendaries). I think some people use brackets [text] for telepathic speak in some works, but I'm not sure if the same can be said for formal stuff.

You got single quotes, brackets, and a couple of others, but the most important is to remain consistent when you pick one to use.
>>
>>28101136
I've seen people use <angle brackets> for it but absent italics I'll probably just use single-quotes for my telepathy stuff and mention it in the actual narrative that it's telepathic speech, IE
>'blahblahblah' droned Insertnamehere telepathically.
Simple is good, so you don't clutter up your text with too many nonstandard symbols.
>>
>>28100848
>>28101690
The grammatically correct method is to use quotation marks for telepathic speech, and no quotes for thought.

I'd like to see the grammatically correct way to write telepathic speech be discussed in a scholarly setting.

The only rule for things like this is to be absolutely consistent throughout the entirety of your work. For instance, if you choose to use unquoted italics to represent thought, you do the same exact thing every time you're writing someone's thoughts.

I've seen published authors use italics, capitalization, just line breaks with no further punctuation at all, all sorts of different things. The reader will figure out what you're doing if you're 100% consistent with the way you convey something to them.
>>
>>28103133
Oh they will, but scholarly texts point to using quotes for "spoken" thought, ie telepathy. Using italics and what not becomes a matter of styling. It looks nice and conveys what you're trying to illustrate, but it's not strictly "correct."
>>
>>28103545
That's because your concept of what correct means is not how linguistics works, but whatever. The closest thing you'll find on something like this is a university issuing standardized guidelines for how their papers should be published but those aren't going to cover telepathic speech.

How do you fix writers block?
I'm at the point in my fic where the human character is about to move to one of the regions, but yet I have no idea how to go about doing it.

Should I have it follow the character as he goes over a few educational videos about life there? And how this character would be forced to adapt to his new environment?

You could have him talk about the regional differences with the local professor? And as for moving to said new region, you could do a call back to R/S/E and have him move to wherever your character is going in the back of a moving truck. Just my two cents

>capable of Mega Evolving at will

Already has a "canon" basis in at least one context, so you should be able to pass it off just fine.

My explanation was that Mewtwo was recaptured and experimented on even further by a second group, causing it to develop the Y form and the female voice. The changes made it unstable and it eventually learned the X form, which has its original male voice, and can use all three forms at will[

Also, Diancie created its own Mega Stone in its movie, and the Latios, Latias and Fug in the Hoopa movie all did it by themselves too. So you should be fine, the idea of a very select few legendaries being able to do it alone is something people already know. Not saying the anime should necessarily be seen as anything of quality, just that the idea you present isn't unfamiliar.

My next pokemon fic briefly features one of those, since the protagonist is a canon-regions traveller coming into Ocimene. However, I'm not spending too much time on it; the video isn't the story. If you want to make that worth going into detail with, ensure you've established your character enough that the reader will immediately recognize conflicts as the videos suggest them.

Glad to hear it mate!

The other in universe stuff just indicates what stories take place in the same continuity. That's why Summers End gets noted as being an independent work with no bearing on the other three works mainly because the nameless trainer and Gardevoir in that story were the molds I based Jo and Viola on and I didn't want people assuming they were the same couple.

I might do some light hearted side work with them and their time in Sinnoh as a way to take a break from the heavier stiff in ACPC, we'll see.

While that's kind of autistic, it's canon. They already confirmed that the reason that Pokemon submit themselves to trainers and let themselves be captured is because they see those trainers as able to bring out the best of their potential.

While Pokemon just thrashing around are pretty powerful, being directed by humans more analytical mind is what brings them to their fullest potential.
>>
>>28106596
The science in me tells me that humans and Pokemon are too genetically diverse to breed

However, in the Pokemon universe, traditional genetics and the theory of evolution is thrown out of the fucking window.

I'd say humans are probably in the 'human-like' and field egg groups, but I could be wrong.

>>

A) Trainer + Lopunny go on journey to be the strong.
B)Eevee goes on a quest to evolve and gets existential on the way.
>>
>>28108403
That's what I am going with, but like Ditto they can't have a human with a Pokemon, it just produces another of the Pokemon, but human/Pokemon pregnancy is also extremely rare.
>>
>>28109278
>but like Ditto they can't have a human with a Pokemon, it just produces another of the Pokemon

>Ditto is actually an artificial pokemon that was an attempt at creating a human with pokemon abilities, a pokemon with human DNA, and it failed horribly and escaped.
Alternately
>It was a pokemon that originally mimicked humans specifically, but generalized over time
>>
>>28109331
I could believe that Ditto was a failed attempt at creating a clone of Mew. I mean, they are the only other Pokemon that knows Transform, not even Mewtwo knows that one.

In the fic I am writing, Team Rocket finds old research notes about this and decides to attempt to use Ditto in a new way for their Pokemon stealing. Instead of transforming, Ditto merges with the Pokemon they desire to catch. The merged Pokemon doesn't look any different then normal, but the Ditto controls them, thus making it have to obey Team Rocket without having to retrain them.

The lead scientist working on it has a change of heart and steals the prototype Ditto, runs into a trainer and asks for protection from the pursuing Rockets. Things don't work out as planned and the trainer and scientist get beat up, just when the Rocket grunts are about to take back the Ditto, the scientist orders it to merge her and the trainer along with itself. The mass of flesh convulses and falls over and the Rockets assume it dead and go back to base to report.

A land slide carries the mass into the river and the river carries it to the nearest town where it finally cracks open, revealing the newly emerged futa. Being combined with a Ditto allows them to get any Pokemon or themselves pregnant and Pokemon that normally wouldn't find themselves attracted to humans seem to find them irresistible.

OR. Finally woke up to this beauty here.
You should really have more confidence in your writing ability, as it came out just fine to me. the color emphasis confused me a bit, but I got the hang of it after rereading it a second time.
While I do think it would have worked better lewd-wise from the trainer's perspective, I am pretty happy with what you have written.

With all of these works being made, here's a reminder for authors to submit what they've done into the catalog so that other anons can find their works/be sent some links should they be looking for anything in particular. The bigger the catalog the better!

Still not sure how much lewd I want to do but it's a foot in the door at least. As for POV, I'm just having tons of fun writing from the pokemon's perspective. I'll make sure I make that POV clear when I ask for more prompts.

Crossover guy here. I was wondering if you're open to a short quip about Luvdisc having a disagreement with Casanuva from Yo-kai Watch over the concept of love and how love should be treated.
Here's his bio should it help you out.

This narcissist makes every lady he sees fall in love with him, regardless of appearance

Think possessive love (ownership is love) vs observant love (best to watch and let free).

Have them both be men, with Casanuva trying to hit on the poor fish after all is said and done.

Not sure how much feedback you're willing to take from spoiled fans, but I can't see Charles' character expansion as having anything but a positive impact on the story as a whole. Either way, good luck with the next chapter. I'm eagerly looking forward to it.

How about a female combee being caught and then treated nice, being pampered ect. And her feeling confuse since she's not a queen and this attention given to a lower class worker bee, is not something she's uses to. It could end with her evolving and having feeling for her trainer and needing him to "mate" so she can start a hive.

How closely do you guys stick to pokemon sizes described/shown in the pokedex/anime?
>>
>>28147001
I just use the sizes as an average height, mostly because size variations are guaranteed to happen, considering that nature is not perfect.
>>
>>28147001
I've typically taken Pokedex to be the most sensible dimension (since it's clearly sometimes height of head, height at shoulder, length, diameter, etc.) and as the mean size of a wild pokemon. Kept pokemon in Ocimene have a marginal advantage, owing to a more robust and varied diet, although outliers on either side are by blood or chance. The authorized media is wildly variable, so it's sensible to let artistic license adjust sizes to make good stories as they do.

So how do you guys usually think up a plot for a Pokémon fic? Do you think of your favorite Pokémon and decide you want to write something for it? Or do you get a burst of inspiration for a basic plot you want, and then think of how Pokémon would fit in it?

For me, Pokémon as a series is so different from real life that there are many plotlines that only fit within its borders.

Also, unrelated: hail satan, Suwa has acquired a chug-o-rific laptop. More frequent publications, maybe? We'll have to see what Accounting has to say about that.
>>
>>28147001
I basically start with the premise that, like other things related to the Pokédex, it's a good theory but done wrong in just the way enough to be funny. Some sizes (and weights, for that matter) pretty much don't make more sense than a creature capable of skipping Ayers Rock in a single bound.

Even then, as with any official measure, they're closer to averages, or rather average *records* than anything else. Like, *most* Pidgeotto or Staravia would not really be used for flying people, so there needs not to be a bias to record the largest and most fitting ones.

Speaking of, yeah. For many Pokémon I alter the "average" sizes just enough that they make more sense for the riding component of, well, Fly and Dive. Double important for things like being able to Fly in NFE bird mons, and sizes of dragons, who should by all merits get larger and thicker as they age instead of whithering away like the rest of living creatures.

So most of those adjustments tend to be.... utilitarian, to call them somehow.

Others are there to fit better with the lore. Creatures like Kyogre and Groudon are made larger, in particular in their "true formes" in order to have actually looked their part in lore. While I don't go kaiju size, much as they do deserve it, I do feel like Canon 'dex size for Kyogre and other Legendaries is just "worst roommate Kyogre" kind of boring.

I have to wonder though... does anyone make their Joltiks *smaller* for extra cuteness factor?

Discussion here gets the gears turning, along with images, but typically plots are born out of my interests, be they in specific pokemon or in a current interest in a particular genre (hence the whole mystery/occult thing I'm dabbling in.)

Generally, I get a single sentence into my head and just build up a story around it. In addition to what I'm currently writing I'm also mulling over:

>a zoroark "dies" and takes the form of a banette that sequesters itself away atop a Pokemon Center, avoiding social contact and eventually relenting to a very persistent behaviorist that was called to figure out why its up there
>Jo and Viola do cute shit in Sinnoh/become acclimated to how unrestricted they are in that society
>A very determined Sinnohian (F)Trainer) is trying to get into Kanto and ends up getting an (M)Ranger to relent and allow her to spend just enough time in the region to visit her ill grandmother and leave; he falls for her and winds up having to come face to face with the very reason Kanto passed anti-Sinnohian legislation

odd question: what pokemon do you guys feel loan themselves well to a Wild West-themed region?

And, also, just tossing out music on my mind:

>>
>>28148458
I dunno, probably should think Orre pre-Colosseum with lots of imported bullshit that can survive decently well in a wasteland. That region is basically as close as we've ever gotten to a wild-west, anyways.
>>
>>28148458
Well, first off, almost anything Ground-type or Rock-type would fit, I think.

Besides that, probably Pokemon based off animals often associated with the Wild West: Tauros (cattle), Ekans (rattlesnakes), Sandshrew and Sandslash (armadillos), that kind of thing.

Equines like Ponyta and Rapidash, or Mudbray and Mudsdale, would work too, due to the whole horseback cowboy image.

Vullaby and Mandibuzz would work as well, due to both the bone imagery and the fact that they're vultures.

...And that's all I can think of.

Do we have a fic starring a Steve Irwin-esque person with the fics following a sort of televised format as he introduces various wild Pokemon to viewers?

"Take a look at the amazing size and regalness of that Serperior as it slithers around in search of who knows what. Its kin, maybe a mate or just simply food. What a beautiful species to see around here."
>>
Do you guys have any recommendations for Pokemon crossover fics?
If not, what franchises do you think would make for a good crossover?
>>
>>28150630

>>
>>28147756
Oh shit, that last description.
>>
>>28152216
Well, it's not a fanfic, but we've gotten a crossover with Nobunaga's Ambition.
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Conquest

As for other good crossovers, lately I've played with the idea of a Pokemon: Fallout Green, so long as one doesn't take things too seriously and plays more the black comedy angle.

>Wandering Trainer with a Pip-Dex
>"Team Raider's blasting off again!"
>FEV mutated Pokemon
>Brotherhood of Steel with a crippling weakness against fire-types
>Team Enclave
>Faction Leader HOUSE wants to battle!
>>
>>28154167
Yeah, I want to get working on it soon, but I haven't quite decided on how I want the Ranger to handle the ordeal, or how the Trainer reacts. Making him just passively accepting of it is tacky and a cop-out, but he also isn't exactly portrayed as being completely for the legislation that passed. Maybe this puts him over the edge. Or maybe I'll just break him.
>>
Someone make a story bout a cute boi called Cocoa and his almost identical sister Koko. They are both having sexual discoveries, and they try to do various things with their Pokemon to please eachother.
Wincest is Bestcest.
>>
>>28155535
>Boku no Pico

>>28155475
Even if he isn't completely in favor of legislation, encountering it firsthand could shock him beyond expectation. He could find it utterly repulsive up close. Unless he has a cuck fetish.
>>
>>28156970
Yeah I was considering the whole repulsed angle. Just not sure if he would toss her out or let her finish her journey. Sort of leaning towards the latter, in a vain effort to prove to himself that he's "better than her" but I'm not too sure. Definitely gonna be repulsed by it though. Garchomp dick ain't nothing to fuck with yo.

How do you guys handle experience gain in writing? Is strength purely based on strategy and species or could a battle hardened dunsparce take down a legendary? Maybe just somewhere in between those extremes?
>>
>>28159989
I motion that be the next TOTT, since we're at 308.
>>
>>28159989
In between, definitely. For example, no matter how powerful it is, a Lopunny would end up butchered if it got stabbed by a Pawniard enough times. Its higher level would manifest in the form of its superior speed and strategy.
>>
>>28159989

The difference between a lv 1 and a lv 100 Pokemon is like the difference between a 5 year old and Floyd Mayweather. Just because in the games you don't get to see the physical improvement in muscle/reaction time/energy control doesn't mean its not there... except it's probably even more disjointed because pokemon can evolve and seem to have some genetic capacity for improving their potential well beyond what humans are capable of. I imagine pokemon training allowing them to improve themselves in ways humans simply aren't capable of- toughening skin/scales to the point it can shrug off cutting attacks for instance, or developing a stronger sense of eyesight. Evolution helps, but can't replace intense long term training and proper technique. It isn't unreasonable that a significantly trained Dragonite or Charizard might be borderline bulletproof.

It's easy to underestimate the effect of training since it's generally pretty damn easy to cap out levels on Pokemon in the games. EXP manipulating items such as the Lucky Egg and EXP Share are nonsense in my opinion and I spare no grief to any story that decides to do away with them. I also do not believe it is possible to get a Pokemon that strong after a weekend of battling the Elite Four over and over again even though this is perfectly possible in the games themselves. Also, since the regional champions tend to have Pokemon that cap out around lv 60-70, I imagine that this is around the region where Pokemon tend to be considered the "apex" of their species. Any Pokemon with measurable strength beyond that (such as Red's Pikachu) would be considered supernaturally powerful by local Professors- for all intents and purposes a freak of nature- and would practically be considered legendary in their own right. These sorts of Pokemon could very well take on a true Legendary in a battle, since their power isn't comparable to what is normally considered "normal" for their species.
>>
>>28159989
You battle, you gain experience. Not a discrete or even measurable quantity, but rather a quality of being prepared for things plus a combination of improvements in certain physical and psychological thresholds.

Levels as a discrete statistic are but a videogame interface convenience and I don't really see a proper place for them in fanfic that portrays a "real world". Levels as a comparable and diferentiable concept however are of more interest: you can say that a level 80 Dunsparce is more "tuned" for combat than a level 70 Dunsparce, or than a level 50 Articuno.

The difference however is that the Articuno can take much more punishment and needs to exert much less effort to wreck a Pokémon of similar level or higher. Plus Legendaries in general have their own kinds of weird powers.

So if it was a standarised exercise or demonstration of power, like the Pokémon equivalent of weight lifting, then yeah, a "battle hardened" Dunsparce is likely going to do well against an Articuno at natural "wild" level. But in an actual battle? No way. If an Articuno saw a horribly overleveled Dunsparce heading its way, past the initial surprise, there would just be no reason why the Articuno can't just kick up a city-covering snowstorm or flat out initiate protocol Sheer Cold. "Levels" just don't help that way.
