Its most notable showing is beating Iris' Dragonite(it evolved in that battle), if I remember correctly.
I wouldn't say it's THAT good though. But it's a solid Pokémon.

It did have to struggle somewhat though, as opposed to Charizard who completely wrecked it without getting a scratch. Ash Greninja is definitely stronger than it, as much as I hate to admit it.

Anyway, apart from Snorlax being the stronger tank by far, and a Dragon type not being necessary, Krookodile, Infernape, Glalie, Swellow, and a couple of others are all more deserving of the spot. Even the likes of Bulbasaur would probably be better.
