not that anon but in my opinion haxorus is only ok as a pokemon because he's the pseudo legendary of gen 5, but he's also one of the worst in what he tries to specialize in. I mean, why use him when garchomp has 2 stabs, some more bulk, and actually passes 100 speed? Dragon/Steel wouldn't be all that bad on haxorus since it is pretty frail and steel as an offensive presence isn't too common.

Yeah no idea how to make it better without completely overhauling everything about it. Making it Ground Fairy or giving it a god tier ability like Magic Bounce are probably the only things you could do to make Claydol viable again.

For best results, give it 20 more BP as well, or the ability to lower Spe too. Suddenly, it gets a niche for stat-dropping the opponent by quite a ways, while dealing large amounts of damage. Life Orb or Assault Vest will both work on it, and while it's only going to shoot to Ubers with all 3 of the buffs, it should at least make it to UU with just one or two.

Power creep will be there naturally as gens progress, megas can actually help shittier pokemon affected by this to become relevant again, like manectric, lopunny, houndoom (to a certain extent) and even charizard. Pokemon do need to handle these threats to stay relevant, but they've always had to handle the strongest of pokemon to be on the top. Not only that, but as said before, plenty of pokemon that have no megas can easily dispatch megas if you play your cards right. Mega diancie can sweep only if you let it, because something as simple as a bullet punch from scizor will destroy it. again, you just need to be good.

In regards to teambuilding, it really doesnt. Having one mega forces creativity, it makes people have to make the team work with it or for it, not just put a bunch of powerfull pokemon together. It allows for more ways to build teams. You can use an offensive mega like scizor to make your team much more powerfull and generally pressure the opponent, or use mega aggron and play the opposite way, making it so the opponent has to figure out a way of getting past your raw bulk while you deal consistent damage.

I fyou honestly think having 6 megas would lead to more creative team building than having 1, you're misleading yourself. You are also hillariously contradicting yourself by suggesting that, since if you could just use megas people would just pack teams with them and use just those, like the disaster that was VGC when they allowed legendaries and everybody just used groudon and xerneas. There's a balance that the one mega rule brings that allows megas to shine while not taking center spot to other amazing mega-less pokemon
