XY Ash was very interesting for a total of two full episodes and a handful of moments here and there. The rest of the time he lacks any of the nuance that DP, AG, or OS Ash displayed in his interactions with other characters or the world around him as he follows the same cheerful behavioral pattern nearly every fucking ep. It doesn't help that everyone around him practically sucks his dick by default, thereby reducing potential variance in character interactions and any actual character flaws ash had previously which served to make him really entertaining (his arrogance and hotheadedness) are severely downplayed to the point of relative unimportance for the most part.
