How does gyms work? I'm fighting a gym, manages to kill some pokemon and suddenly the last one dies (I guess another player from the same faction was fighting too) When I click the white gym the game freezes and when I try to put a pokemon there after rebooting there is no such option. Also a friendly gym needs to level up before you can place your own pokemon in it. You level it up by battling the friendly gym. Then when it gains enough exp it levels up to level 3 and then you can add a 3rd pokemon and so on. When a gym gets taken over it's automatically level 2 and has 2 spots open. So you should be able to put a pokemon unless 2 people already took the spots.

You can put in as many pokemon as the level of the gym. If it's level 1, only 1 is allowed in. If it's level 2, then 2, etcetc, all the way up to level 10. If you want to add in your pokemon, hit the "train" button and get the prestige up high enough to get the gym up to the next level.

Is there any way to tell if a specific location has a nest or not? Or if it's just the landscape? I know there's a lot of Psyduck around my local mall, but it was built on old wetlands so the biome is fitting. So I don't know if it's a nest or just the location.

When you battle, you're playing another person's pokemon controlled by an AI. So you can easily beat a pokemon a little stronger than yours, if you have type advantage / know how to attack / dodge properly. However it's not to the extent that a 200cp lapras is going to beat a 1000cp blastoise.

A couple weeks ago I went out and played with some friends and caught an exeggutor, and checked its ivs. After that I would systematically check the mons I hatched. Never once did I use the scanner, because /vp/ told me I would be safe as long as I used online scanners.

Having a low level Pokemon with bubble and a lower level Pokemon who can kill it isn't that much setup at all. It doesn't seem like a terribly effective method, though. You get, what, 150 exp per win? 50 exp for defeating a pokemon, 100 exp for the 1000prestige boost. Considering the long delay between winning a battle and the next battle starting you'd literally need to do this for 24 hours to get the 1.5 MILLION exp they promise, and spend only ten seconds per battle.

Hanging out near lures with a few pokestops to spin is more useful probably.

It's really not that long of a delay if you don't need to heal, the screen transitions only take like 2-3 seconds if you just keep pressing to fight. That's 1500 EXP per 100 seconds. The same as if you evolved three Pokemon, unlimited by any other factors like actually having the candies to do so or lucky eggs to use on evolution.
