It's pointless to hope for, but I really wish they'll reveal Alain unwittingly cheated because Flare was funneling energy to his Charizard or his Charizard's Mega Stone was tampered with to give him an edge or something, and Ash beats him when they have a post-Flare rematch for Champion.

Maybe something like Alain gets pissed that Lysander helped him cheat (and thus didn't beat Ash on his own), switches sides from Flare, helps Ash beat them, and then rematches him in the stadium again for the Champion title.

I've followed the show consistently since Kanto up to about the first 20ish episodes of Best Wishes, then only watched select episodes, then came back for XY.

Looking back I have no idea how I survived all of Johto's fillers when it originally aired. It must have been just cause I was a young kid who just wanted to watch pokemon so I didn't care much.

My problem is that SM looks kinda kiddy and the anime probably will have the BW tone were every single character was a comic relief

GameFreak also probably wants 3 year gaps between gens to be standard now. The 5th-6th, and 6th-7th gen were only 3 years.

R/S and DP being 4 year gens is probably a thing of the past. It worked well for the anime because it allowed AG and DP to run 4 years....and May and Dawn to essentially get close to 200 episodes.

Some other guy summed it up pretty well in another post a couple days ago. I don't remember everything but it's still a kids show the only thing tying most people to it is that they grew up with it and like seeing Ash on his adventures, or they want to see Ash win.

Real question, in general, to everyone weary of the Anime's bullshit; why not read the manga? Shit actually matters for more then five seconds. Characters aren't just gone and forgotten between storylines. Hell, in the current story arc (I believe), Red, Green and Blue are all in their early twenties.

Why stick with this show, where the only sensible possibility is that Ash fell into a coma at some point early on?

Dumping Ash doesn't mean we have to have Ash 2.0. We could just as easily get someone who is closer to Paul and has to learn empathy. We could get a trainer who is only in it for the fame and comes to enjoy the journey itself. We could get someone who is actually *too* lovey-dovey ad overprotective of his Pokemon to battle effectively, and he has to learn the lesson of letting the things you love have time to breathe and do their own thing or you'll smother them.

I used to think in this too, but not anymore. I wish he could win a league but it's impossible, this series is going to end with Ash being a loser, and i'm already ok with it, Ash is my favorite character in this show no matter what, maybe in the future they let him win some shitty competitions like orange islands or the alola thing tough.

Which would be better, because building a series around the main character working towards a goal that he can never get no matter how strong he gets is beyond retarded. If Alola was just fun adventures with an overarching plot about something else that can be actually accomplished (like building up to the legendaries and needing to face the island trials in order to gain the right to meet them or anything like that), it would be a much better anime in general. The way they built up Ash winning the Kalos League only to blueball everyone in the most nonsensical way possible at the very last second is beyond simply having a bad story, it's callous towards your audience.
