I've always seen BW2 and HGSS kinda praised equally.
But gen 5 has has a bigger share of shitposters than HGSS in general, so that kinda skews results in favor of HGSS.

I agree that I've seen that more recently, but you should know how much praise HGSS got in general for so many years. It was almost unbearable on /vp/ a few years ago. It's not nearly as bad now, and things are always up in the air whenever a new generation comes out, but yeah. Once Sun and Moon have been out for a few months and /vp/ settles down again and all we have are our usual shitposting threads and waifu threads taking up space it'll be interesting to see what the current batch of /vp/ users think about the old games.

All things aside I think Sun and Moon are gearing up to be one of the best generations. I'm way more excited to play than I was during the XY cycle (even though that gen introduced a lot of things I liked, especially customization, interesting character designs, whatever else)

Man anything I see from B2W2 has been either completely taking a shit on it or absolute praise. It's like comparing FO3 to FONV, every time.

I really did enjoy B2W2 more than any game released and with posts like this it's hard to understand why people shit on the game. Every time I ask for a real criticism some fag says "Don't forget, PokeStar Studios", an optional side game or dumb shit like OP's post complaining about how the male character looks in a series that's so easy to self-insert yourself in as the hero.

The optional side content is a big part of why people like it. When you've been with the franchise for two decades, the story just becomes an obligatory chore. Having lots of shit to do outside of the main game is something vp really values. That's a big reason bw2 has such a fanbase around here: it had a load of ide content.

Yeah, B2/W2 is pretty great

Lots of fucking content, decent story, post game 100 floor tower with trainers that have Lv80 mons and is an actual challenge where you can't use items and you must transverse the entire tower, rewarded with a shiny mon at the end of the tower that you fucking earned and its great, Lots of decent shit with good typing early on so you can start team building right away, good characters mostly, continues the plot of B/W and shows the world evolving after that game took place, lots of legendary mons if I recall, lot of fucking post-game yet again, half the map is basically post-game with more areas to explore than maybe any other game.

Optional hard mode for the entire game that gives enemy trainers more levels and more mons(its a bitch to unlock though). Memory Link thing gives the game odd cut scenes that flesh things out a bit more. Also you collect medals the entire game which is kind of fun for accomplishment sake.

Also another cherry on top is the battle frontier thing, where you can battle every well known character from every Pokemon game that came before this one in tournament style fights to become the super king.

Pokestar studios is a fun postgame thing as you try to be a superstar, and it actually teaches you some odd strategies to beat invincible mons. The game feels really fleshed out, out of all Pokemon games it feels maybe the one with the most content, maybe.

Only real issue is that breeding is postgame only. Which is a real issue perhaps.

Uh OP, unless your favorites from gen 4 are the starters, the legendaries, and bidoof, the B2W2 has all the important Sinnoh mon, bar Luxray. A lot of the evos and preevos introduced are in game as well. The transfer point only really matters if you wan to blaze through the game with a number of perfect IVed mon.
