Those two competitions in the OP were just random one-episode shit during that filler island season.

The tournaments with Bianca and other rivals happened during the main season, and Ash lost all three of them (in the first one against Iris, then against some guy with a Throh, and then against faggot with a Serperior).

Ash hasn't won a decent tournament since DP.
