Hey, how good is Xerneas Break/M Gardevoir? Aromatisse is rotating and adapting my current - and only decent deck - would be a lot easier than starting from scratch. I've got 11 various packs to start trading away to build the new deck.

I've climbed my way out of facing shit decks and started going up against decks with Shaymins and full arts all over the place, but my deck just isn't quite fast enough for the top tier decks.

Jumpluff isn't even a combo. It's damage is prize based. 20x the number of prize cards you have remaining. So with a muscle band you hit for 140. Late in the game it's hitting for like 60-20 damage. Everyone who has raged so far has watched me set up 1-2 Jumpluffs T1 thanks to Forest of the Giant Plants and take a knockout.

This card makes psychic great again. Mega Mewtwo can max elixir onto Lunala and move the energies on. You can max potion any deck now as well. Trevenant in expanded with Mystery Energy effectively gives the whole deck free retreat while letting Lunala kill any Yveltal or Darkrai that threatens the lock. The only bad news is Hoopa can't grab it.

2 Boxes have 10 EX, 4 UR, and 1 SR on average.

EXs are 1/7 packs

UR are 1/18 packs

SR are 1/72 packs


Chance to pull shaymin EX: 1/7 * 1/11 = 1/77 packs

Chance to pull shaymin EX FA: 1/18 * 1/11 = 1/198 packs

Chance to pull SR VS Seeker: 1/72 * 1/2 = 1/144 packs


Also Roaring Skies isnt that great ouside of Shaymin EX.
You would be getting 76 packs of crap on average before you see a Shaymin.

You are better off saving the coins for new sets or to get commons/uncommons you need.

Nah, that's completely wrong. EXes are newb bait like spamming fireballs in fighting games. Check the guide in the OP. It uses some specific examples, but like 90% of EXes are widely unplayable(pic related), whereas Night March is the best deck in the game because it follows the design philosophy of well-made EXes and Trevenant is the second best because of hard denial, easy setup, and counter to Night March.

Megas aren't doing anything in the meta at all right now due to losing Prize races against Greninja and Night March while not being able to setup against Trevenant. Only Waterbox is really meta that fits that philosophy and doesn't use any Megas last I checked. Rayquaza is waiting until next rotation to be good again, Jolteon completely cut out M-Manectric because of speed, Alakazam basically never worked in the first place, and half the other ones didn't get spirit links or were shitty promos. They're even worse with Giratina/Darkrai being a deck.

Flareon is basically going to be a less potent Yveltal that will likely have issues with resource management since it loses Blacksmith and Fiery Torch. Japan has it though, so we likely won't see a reprint of it.

I've always liked Xerneas/M Gardevoir, but they've always been kind of slow to setup. They topped a few regional events around the time PRC hit, so it all depends on how the actual meta goes. If it's as slow as PRC launch meta, they might have a shot. Losing Aromatisse is a bit annoying, and they don't have much in the way of setup besides Max Elixir.

Get rid of any 1-1 lines of Pokemon. Consistency is something you strive for in PTCG. What happens if you get Slugma, Magcargo, Ponyta, Rapidash, Glameow, or Purrloin prized? The other one becomes entirely useless. They're really not worth it unless they have an amazing effect in the game but you really can't afford the space, like Greninja teching in 1-1 Octillary.

You want to read up on the imgur guide in the OP. You're running way too many energies and Pokemon with not nearly enough trainers that actually do things. Cut out Potion and Pokeball for things like Sycamore.

Run some more draw support, 4 isn't enough, like 2-3 N or Judge at least. Less skyla (you don't have enough trainers to search on the same turn, if you did, you'd be running Trainer's Mail instead, really just run those). Cut Pokeball for Ultra Ball so you don't have to rely on coin flips. Especially if you have Shaymin. You won't need 4 Wally. Leafeon isn't really that good at all. Try Sceptile if you're going for an EX anyway. Better synergy with Ariados.

Around there for the majority of it. Like 1 pack per sceptile, 1-2 for a good deal on the trainers/Pokemon, then like 1 per VS Seeker depending on the going rate. I would drop sceptile and add in combat blaze entei with fire energies to go full budget/1-prize attackers. if you really want to keep sceptile I would add in some zoroark+floatstone or something.

increase vs seeker to 4
use this extra space for zoroark or entei. if you're using entei you're also cutting sceptile and you can either add more energies or maybe some nice item cards (super rod, special charge) with the extra space.

If you wanna run a Mill deck. Rather than Running Bunny, you can run Slowkings with Royal Flash, they let move an energy from the active enemy pokemon to a bench Pokemon. You can run one pokepuff to try to get a bench pokemon out to drop energy unto it. There's a Rocket Gang card that mills as well.

In real life, you can go to shops and play with other serious players. You don't want to play a 5 year old? Fine. Don't.

When online, you get matched up with whoever the fuck. Matchmaking favors speedily pairing people over matches of skill, so you're far more likely to get that 5 year old. Moreover, most of the people that aren't 5 don't have the access to the better cards/just don't care. You'll run into 10 shitty and/or off-meta decks for every top tier deck you'll see.

If you're any good at the game and take a decently made deck into a tournament on the client, you're pretty much guaranteed second place or better.

That's the meta triangle.
Green beats Blue.
Blue beats everything else.
Everything else beats Green.

What cards would you recommend trading lower value packs for as a new player?

Decided to try the HS Basic Blue in a theme tournament. Thing was a beast until I lost the last round to a fucking Zygarde deck.

First priority should be getting 4 Sycamore, 4 Ultra Ball, 4 VS Seeker, 2 N, and 2 Lysandre. These go in every deck without exception, normally at those ratios.

Generic semi-staples after that include 1 Hex Maniac, 1 Ranger, 2 Float Stone/Switch/Escape Rope, 4 Trainers' Mail, 3 Random Receiver, 1 Super Rod, and 1 Skyla. These cards aren't auto-include and don't belong in every deck, but they're very common trainers that are normally included.

After that, it depends what deck you're trying to build. For example, Rough Seas and Dive Ball for a Water deck, Fighting Fury Belt for a Basic deck, etc.

Most of the cards I mentioned are worth virtually nothing. You can probably get a 12+ of them for a single pack.

Sceptile is the only beefy grass mon that syncs with Ariados' ability. I really don't see any advantage Entei would have over it except not hitting me for 2 prizes in a KO. sceptile can't OHKO vespiquen without mega or a muscle band (which is getting rotated)
remember that vespiquen can't be poisoned. you will also struggle against other sceptile decks, even a 2-line of entei would help a lot. the only fire-type with pure colorless energy cost is Flareon-ex (which is a lot better iwth fire energy). instead of entei you could also heatmor, who only needs 1 fire energy+a tool to take out vespiquen (maybe just have 2-3 fire energy in your deck), or baby volcanion, which would help you accelerate.

Tested out weighing SS, these were everything out of the heaviest packs, the ones 29.1 I got all had nothing. Plus they had Phantom Forces in the bargain bin so I got one and pulled my 4th Xerosic.

Seems like 29.2 and higher has at least a 50/50 shot at a holo or above. 29.3 seems near 100%.

Shaymin EX increased in value this past week since the rotation is near and Octillery wont be as good anymore because of Garbodor infested meta.

Now its going for 25 RA and 30FA instead of 20 RA and 30FA.

It will probably increase again once the rotation hits, Delphox rotates and everyone finally realises Octillery isnt useful anymore and the only draw tech in that remains consistant is Shaymin.

I think that in a couple of weeks RA will be 26-28 and FA 32-34.
Mainly because EVERY SINGLE Tier 1-3 deck will have 2 to 4 of them.

Not entirely SS, but Pokepuff makes a Zoroark+Lucario combo quite fun and effective.

Samurott is fun also, not as effective but really fun deck.

Toxicroak can be used in extended with virbank stadium, ariados and toxic laser.

Xerneas BREAK is really good, I dont enjoy it and is a somewhat more serious deck. But its really good.

Outisde of that the cards from the set are mediocre gameplay wise.

Theme decks are a joke. They are the textbook opposite of a what a competitive deck looks like. There are no good cards in any of them, outside of single specific examples. Even in those exceptions, just buy the singles.

You can open the 50 trade locked packs you get in the trainer challenge. You get another trade locked pack every 5 days from login bonus, and a few more from challenges and the ladder. You should be fine with opening those. The ones you should never open are the tradable ones, which you get from codes and tournaments. Maybe one day when you are satisfied with the amount of meta decks you have you'll be able to not give a fuck and open whatever, but when you are starting opening tradable packs is retarded.
