Honestly I this is one of the things I do like about the anime though; anything can be a potential good pokemon. Its nice to see things that are generally disregarded actually getting to do stuff.

Pidove is based on a pidgeon. Unfezant is based on a pheasant (hence the name). Though a pheasant is barely any more intimidating than a pidgeon.

They should have stat differences since the pokedex mentions that the female one is a better flyer. How did it keep up?

Unfezant being the only regional bird with no access to Brave Bird can be explained as being at the same time the ony regional bird with access to Sky Attack (even more powerful, with high Critical hit and flinch ratio; bad thing is you need to charge first turn)

93 Speeds okay buts it's pretty bad when you compare it to all the other Regional birds which all except Noctowl have 100+ and Noctowl only gets away with it because it's meant to be the bulky regional bird.

Unfezant is also one of the most fragile of the birds, only ones with less are Staraptor, which gets Intimidate and 120 attack to compensate and Swellow which has 125 Speed and Guts to compensate.

So It;s not the fastest, it's not the bulkiest and it's not the most damaging, pretty much anything you could want to do with Unfezant another of the regional birds could do it better.
