It's not just that Ash lost. It's that he lost for good. They did everything right this time. They built him up, gave him a competent Team he maxed out from beginning to end, even gave him that one special snowflake ability that warrants him to be the very best, set up the ultimate rival to beat in the final and then... then they decided to just shit in everyone's face.

It's easy to accept not getting something if you never expected to get it, but this time they really REALLY made it seem like this was gonna be it. They blueballed everyone hard. They made everythinv run to an ultimate climax and then... they just didn't do it.
This is the feeling of a childhood dream dying not only in a painful way but in a way that makes you not even care about anymore. It's the worst death you could imagine. I'm not even mad at this point, just depressingly sad.

Up until now, he's been a godsend. He took the train wreck of BW and turned it into a really enjoyable ride. With all the hype and tension leading up to the final round, it's clear he's a capable enough director to tell the story he wants to tell. The only reason for Ash losing has to be the status quo. I mean, he was a fan of Pokemon before he became director. That's why he took the job. I'm sure he wanted Ash to win too.

But what if he's a mad fucking genius?
