I would love a spider type were there enough Pokemon to justify it. I'm hoping for a new arachnid in Sun/Moon. A spider could make for an amazing legendary too.

As it stands the bug type is based on just common vernacular. You see a spider, you call it a bug. Most people assume fungi are plants until told otherwise. It's best to not take this stuff seriously.
